Toyota has unveiled the new Land Cruiser FJ for international markets, marking the return of a compact SUV under the Land Cruiser badge. The model revives the essence of the original FJ40 while integrating modern features suited for present-day use. Positioned below the Land Cruiser Prado, the FJ aims to attract a broader customer base seeking a practical 4WD that performs well both on- and off-road. With its smaller dimensions and Toyota’s proven reliability, the new FJ targets drivers in markets where durable, efficient sport utility vehicles are preferred for mixed driving conditions.

The design pays clear tribute to the classic FJ40, with a box-shaped profile, upright stance, and short overhangs that improve approach and departure angles. Features such as LED headlamps, roof rails, and skid plates enhance its practical character. While the exterior focuses on utility, it maintains the familiar visual cues associated with Land Cruiser models.
The cabin follows a functional and straightforward layout. It incorporates a touchscreen infotainment unit, multi-information display, and connected tech features seen in other Toyota SUVs. Hard-wearing materials and large switches improve operability in tough conditions, while flexible seating and cargo setups increase versatility for road trips and daily duties alike.

Safety and driver assistance are supported by the Toyota Safety Sense suite, offering adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and pre-collision assist. The model also includes selectable drive modes for sand, mud, and gravel, enhancing traction in challenging environments.
Powering the Land Cruiser FJ is a 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 161bhp and 246Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The setup directs power to all four wheels through Toyota’s 4WD system, ensuring consistent traction across various surfaces.

According to Totoyata, the drivetrain has been engineered to deliver balanced performance, retaining the Land Cruiser’s reputation for dependability while also being manageable for everyday urban commuting.
