With 6,000 bookings already, the recently launched new-generation too has received a good response so far

The Toyota Fortuner has been a popular choice in the premium SUV space for buyers. Launched in 2009, the Fortuner received a warm welcome in India and since then has been consistent in its sales. Over the years, it has gained the reputation of being a reliable, durable and a quality offering in its space. The Japanese car maker recently introduced the all-new Fortuner in India stays true to all these attributes thanks to which it has received a good response so far. With the help of the 2nd generation model, the Fortuner has now registered overall sales of 1 lakh units.

Expressing his view on achieving this milestone, N. Raja, Director & Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Being able to serve more than one lakh happy customers in such a premium and competitive segment, is a huge achievement for us. This would not have been possible without the support of our customers who have appreciated the product so much.”

Launched last month, 6,000 units of the second-generation Fortuner have already been booked. In fact, thanks to such demand, waiting period for the big brawny SUV currently stands at around 2 months in certain states. The new Fortuner comes with two new engine options – a 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol motor. The petrol churns out 163bhp and 245Nm while the diesel motor develops 174bhp and 420Nm. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the diesel gets a 6-speed manual option the petrol comes mated to a 5-speed manual.

The new Fortuner has been priced at Rs 25.92 lakh for the base petrol variant while the base diesel carries a sticker price of Rs 27.52 lakh. The top-spec variants are priced at Rs 27.61 lakh and Rs 31.12 lakh respectively.
