Toyota has launched a new mid-spec automatic variant of the Rumion MPV in India – the G AT. Priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), the Ruminion G AT variant is Rs 1.40 lakh more expensive than its manual version. For those not aware, the automatic transmission was earlier only available with the S and V variants of the MPV. Now, with this addition, the Toyota Rumion comes in a total of seven variants – S MT, G MT, S AT, V MT, G AT, V AT, and S MT CNG. Speaking of the CNG variant, Toyota has reopened bookings for the same. The company had temporarily suspended bookings for the E-CNG variant, on the back of an "overwhelming demand" for the MPV, resulting in "a long delivery time across variants". Price-wise, the S CNG variant is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 11.39 lakh.

Coming back to the G AT variant, it gets the same features as its manual sibling. These include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Toyota’s i-connect with remote functions for climate, lock/unlock, and hazard lights. Also available are dual-toned seat fabrics, keyless entry and go, two-toned alloy wheels, front fog lights, automatic climate control, paddle shifters, and an engine start-stop button.
Safety-wise, the G AT offers dual airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), brake assist, hill-hold control, electronic stability programme (ESP), seatbelt reminder for all seats, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Powering the new Rumion G variant is a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Whereas the petrol engine develops 102bhp at 6,000rpm and 137Nm of torque at 4,400rpm, the CNG-spec engine makes 87bhp and 122Nm of torque. The latter is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The petrol version has a fuel efficiency of 20.5km/l, whereas the CNG version achieves 26.11km/kg thanks to a factory-installed kit. The bookings for the G AT variant are open at Rs 11,000, while deliveries will commence on May 5.
