Toyota has updated the safety features of its well-known MPV, the Rumion, in India. The car now comes with six airbags as standard across all variants. The move aligns with a similar safety enhancement introduced in July for its donor model, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. In addition to the airbag update, Toyota has equipped the top-spec V variant with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The MPV has three core trims (S, G, and V) and five colour options: Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Rustic Brown, Iconic Grey, and Spunky Blue. It starts at Rs 10.44 lakh and tops out at Rs 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of market competition, the Rumion MPV locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the XL6 in the segment.
The Rumion sets itself apart from the model (Ertiga) on which it is based, with some distinct design touches. For instance, the front fascia has a grille reminiscent of the Innova Crysta. It is complemented by redesigned bumpers and distinctive trapezoidal fog lamp housings. The dual-tone alloy wheels also have a new design.

Inside, the MPV retains the familiar dual-tone black and beige dashboard with faux wood accents. It is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and cruise control. For safety, the Rumion has ABS with EBD, ESP, among other features.
The Toyota Rumion is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine featuring Neo Drive (ISG) technology, which churns out 102bhp of maximum power and 138Nm of peak torque. The unit can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic torque converter, both sending power to the front wheels.

Toyota also offers a CNG-powered variant, which produces 87bhp and 121Nm, mated exclusively to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Rumion offers a fuel efficiency of 20.5km/l for the petrol model. The CNG variant, with its factory-fitted kit, offers a mileage of 26.11km/kg.
