Toyota has revealed the Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV for India, and bookings are now open. This is Toyota’s first proper all-electric SUV for the Indian market and a big moment for the brand’s EV journey here. The Urban Cruiser Ebella sits in the compact electric SUV space and shares its platform with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Even though the platform is shared, Toyota has gone its own way with the design and overall feel. With electric SUVs slowly becoming common on Indian roads, the Urban Cruiser Ebella enters the scene at the right time for buyers looking to switch to EVs without losing the SUV driving position and road presence.

Design-wise, the Urban Cruiser Ebella looks familiar yet different. The front gets a closed grille setup, which instantly gives away its electric identity. The vertically stacked LED lights add character, especially when seen head-on.

From the side, the SUV keeps its strong proportions, similar to the e Vitara, but Toyota has added unique alloy wheels to change the vibe. The lighting signature is also different, helping the Ebella look like a Toyota rather than a rebadged model.
The cabin keeps things straightforward. The layout feels clean, with a dual-screen setup handling infotainment and driver information. The dashboard design is easy to understand, with controls placed where you expect them to be. Toyota has clearly focused on usability here. There’s enough space for daily commuting, family runs and highway drives, making the Ebella feel practical rather than experimental.

On the features side, the Urban Cruiser Ebella keeps things familiar, as the cabin layout closely matches the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It gets a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display paired with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Comfort features include ventilated front seats, 12-colour ambient lighting and a JBL sound system. Safety is well covered with seven airbags and disc brakes on all four wheels as standard.

Depending on the variant, buyers also get a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold and an acoustic vehicle alert system (AVAS). The top-spec version adds a Level 2 ADAS suite, including lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
On the powertrain side, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is offered with two battery options. The smaller 49kWh pack comes paired with an electric motor producing 144bhp and 189Nm, while the larger 61kWh battery delivers 174bhp and 189Nm.

Both versions use a front-mounted motor. Toyota claims an ARAI-certified range of up to 543km on a single charge, which should make the Ebella suitable for both city use and longer highway trips.
