April is all set to witness a promising lineup of upcoming cars in India, including the Volkswagen Taigun Facelift, Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric, and Nissan Tekton. These launches will add to the number of SUVs, EVs, and premium models in the country, making it easier for buyers with different budgets to choose from a wider range of options while purchasing a car. Here’s a closer look at the most anticipated upcoming cars hitting Indian roads this month.

The German carmaker will introduce the updated Taigun in India on April 9, 2026. While official details are still under wraps, the facelifted model, according to the spy images, appears to have a sharper design language. The headlights look slender and are joined by a DRL strip and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The taillamps are likely to have revised lighting elements. Other tweaks may include redesigned bumpers and a new grille. Features-wise, the new Taigun could get a rear seat massage function, similar to the updated Kushaq. It is also likely to come equipped with powered and ventilated seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

The all-new Taigun is expected to have the same engine options, including the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (113.4bhp/178Nm) and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (148bhp/250Nm). As for transmission, the options are also likely to be carried over. That said, Volkswagen could introduce an 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre unit, replacing the current 6-speed gearbox.

Mercedes-Benz will launch the CLA in India in an electric avatar this month. The four-door coupe will be offered in two variants: the CLA 250+ ‘Long Range’ and the more affordable CLA 200 ‘Standard Range’. Deliveries are slated to begin from the end of April 2026 for the CLA 250+, while the CLA 200 Standard Range will start reaching customers from June 2026. The upcoming CLA will be the first model built on the brand’s new Modular Architecture (MMA).
The CLA Electric 250+ is powered by an 85.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an 800V electrical architecture, enabling the electric sedan to produce up to 268bhp. It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and offers a claimed range of up to 792 kilometres. The model also features a two-speed transmission and supports DC fast charging of up to 240kW, allowing it to add around 400km of range in just 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
Meanwhile, the CLA 200 also benefits from the 800V architecture but delivers a claimed range of 542 kilometres. With a 240kW DC fast charger, the CLA 200 Standard Range can gain approximately 320km of range in just 20 minutes.
The India-spec CLA Electric 250+ is equipped with a 14-inch central touchscreen powered by the latest MB.OS, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It also features an AI-enabled MBUX Virtual Assistant with ChatGPT and Google Gemini support, along with 3D Surround Navigation, and a glass panel with LED-lit stars.

Toyota is expected to launch the Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in India soon. The e-SUV stands out with a lighting signature and alloy wheels while maintaining the same strong proportions as the e vitara. In terms of features, the Urban Cruiser Ebella comes equipped with 12-colour ambient lighting, a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display paired with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features ventilated front seats and a JBL sound system. Depending on the variant, buyers also get features such as an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, and an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS). The higher-spec version adds a Level 2 ADAS suite, with features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is offered with two battery options. The smaller 49kWh pack paired with an electric motor produces 144bhp and 189Nm, while the larger 61kWh battery makes 174bhp and 189Nm. They use a front-mounted motor. The ARAI-certified range of the Toyota EV stands at up to 543km on a single charge.

Nissan will showcase the Tekton SUV in India this month, although the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed. The Tekton will be the second of three new models planned for the country as part of the brand’s broader product expansion and revival strategy. In terms of design, the upcoming SUV features a boxy silhouette and upright stance. It has a chrome-accented trapezoidal grille, signature C-shaped LED lighting, and slender daytime running lamps. At the rear, the SUV features matching C-shaped LED taillamps connected by a full-width light bar, along with chunky bumper cladding and rugged protective elements.
While the interior has not been revealed yet, the upcoming Nissan SUV is expected to have a modern, feature-rich cabin with a distinctive dashboard layout, subtle colour schemes, and premium trim elements. It is also likely to feature a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated controls and a fully digital instrument cluster. Features-wise, the Tekton is likely to come equipped with a 360-degree surround-view camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a large touchscreen infotainment system.

Although official powertrain details are yet to be announced, the Tekton could borrow its engines from the Duster. Expected options include a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (161bhp/280Nm), a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (99bhp/160Nm), and a hybrid setup combining a 108bhp petrol engine with a 48bhp electric motor and a 1.4kWh battery. Transmission choices may include both manual and dual-clutch automatic options.
