Car lovers have plenty to look forward to this September, as several prominent launches are in the pipeline. Kicking off the month, Maruti Suzuki will introduce its brand-new midsize SUV through the Arena network to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. Vietnamese EV maker VinFast will also make its much-awaited debut with the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. Citroen will follow with the all-black Basalt X around September 5, while Volvo is set to wrap up the month with the much-anticipated EX30 electric SUV. Let’s take a closer look at key features of all models set to go on sale in September.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s top-selling carmaker, will roll out a brand-new model in the competitive midsize SUV segment on September 3. While official details remain under wraps, the upcoming SUV is expected to undercut the Grand Vitara in price. It will be retailed through the brand’s Arena dealerships, marking a strategic shift in its SUV portfolio. The SUV is rumoured to be called the Victor, Victorious, or Victus, and share its powertrain options with the Grand Vitara, including the 102bhp 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and the 114.4bhp strong-hybrid setups. Both manual and automatic gearbox options could be available, and a CNG variant may also be introduced to target cost-conscious buyers. Price-wise, the upcoming Arena SUV could fetch around Rs 10 lakh upon starting.

Citroen India is all set to launch the Basalt X on September 5 to strengthen its footprint in the competitive Indian SUV market. Bookings for the upcoming SUV Coupe are already underway, with a token amount of Rs 11,000. Citroen hasn’t officially confirmed, but the model could wear a special or limited-edition badge. It will feature cosmetic enhancements and added equipment over the standard model to justify its position and premium. Having said that, the SUV will most likely retain the same powertrain options, including the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 115Nm, and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit, offered in two states of tune (108bhp/190Nm with a 6-speed manual and 108bhp/205Nm with a 6-speed automatic torque converter). For reference, the standard model is priced between Rs 8.32 lakh and Rs 14.10 lakh (both, ex-showroom).
Vietnamese EV maker VinFast will mark its official entry to our shores with the VF7 electric SUV on September 6, 2025. The e-SUV will be offered in three variants (Earth, Wind, and Sky) and an extensive colour palette that includes Jet Black, Desat Silver, Crimson Red, Zenith Grey, and Urban Mint.

Internationally, the VF7 is available with two powertrain options: a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup with 201bhp and 310Nm with a WLTP range of up to 450 kilometres, and a more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant delivering 348bhp and 500Nm, with a claimed range of 431 kilometres. The Indian market is expected to receive the top-spec dual-motor version. The SUV could be priced around Rs 35-45 lakh.

The compact electric SUV VF6 will also launch alongside its larger sibling, the VF7, on September 6. Bookings are already open with a token amount of Rs 11,000. Unlike the VF7, the VF6 will be available in two variants (Earth and Wind), but it will have a similar exterior colour palette. Mechanically, the VF6 offers front-wheel drive with two powertrain options internationally. The standard variant produces 174bhp and 250Nm, and has a WLTP-certified range of up to 399 kilometres, while the top-spec version generates 201bhp and 310Nm, with a range of up to 381 kilometres.

Volvo India is expected to launch its smallest and affordable electric SUV, the EX30, by mid-September 2025. The new entry-level EV will come equipped with a 69kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 268bhp and 343Nm.
