Tata Punch EV Facelift

Compared to hatchbacks and sedans, SUVs in India draw maximum market attention across all price segments owing to their commanding road presence, superior ground clearance, and modern features. With their growing popularity, leading manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and Tata Motors are gearing up to launch new models in this booming segment, enabling prospective buyers to choose from a wider range of options. If you’re planning to buy or upgrade to a new SUV, here’s a look at the most anticipated models expected to hit Indian roads by the end of April 2026.

Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata Motors will launch the Punch EV facelift in India on February 20.  The updated model features a cleaner front design with a closed-off grille, slim LED DRLs, lower-set headlamps, and a sharper bumper. That said, the upright stance and compact proportions remain unchanged.

Mechanically, the Tata SUV is expected to retain the 25kWh (80bhp, 114Nm, 265 kilometres of range) and 35kWh (120bhp, 190Nm, up to 365 kilometres of range) battery options. The facelift will likely see a considerable price bump due to added features and cosmetic upgrades, yet continue to appeal as one of the most affordable EVs in the country.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV

Toyota is preparing to launch the Urban Cruiser Ebella in India following the recent arrival of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Although both SUVs are underpinned by the same platform, the Ebella sets itself apart with distinctive design elements. It features a closed-off grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and Toyota-specific alloy wheels that lend it a sharper identity. While it retains the muscular proportions of its sibling, a bespoke lighting signature ensures it carries a clearly differentiated and unmistakably Toyota look.

However, mechanically, things are the same. Buyers can choose between a 49kWh battery with 144bhp and 189Nm, or a 61kWh pack with 174bhp and 189Nm. Power is sent to a front-mounted motor. The ARAI-certified driving range stands up to 543 kilometres.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line

Volkswagen India is set to announce prices for the all-new Volkswagen Tayron R-Line soon. The three-row SUV, which has already debuted globally, shares its sporty design language with the Tiguan R-Line but stands apart with a revised grille and a longer body to accommodate the third row.

Major highlights include an illuminated Volkswagen logo, a connected LED light bar, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and pixel-style connected LED taillamps. Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that churns out 201.2bhp and 320Nm, and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and Volkswagen’s all-wheel-drive system. It can go from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 224km/h. The SUV also features adaptive dampers.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift

Another much-anticipated SUV slated for launch soon is the Skoda Kushaq facelift. The 2026 iteration appears sharper and more refined than before. It gets a refreshed grille, revised LED headlights with connected DRLs, reworked bumpers, new alloy wheels, connected LED taillights, and illuminated Skoda lettering.

The engine setup remains unchanged, with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol unit producing 113bhp and 178Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed torque converter automatic, and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol with 148bhp and 250Nm and a DSG gearbox.

Renault Duster

Renault has revealed the India-spec Duster, and opened its pre-bookings at Rs 21,000. Prices are slated to be disclosed around mid-March 2026. The SUV features sharp LED DRLs, a bold grille with Duster branding, black side cladding, and roof rails. At the rear, it gets LED taillamps connected through a light bar, a spoiler, and a washer-wiper.

For the first time, the Duster will offer a 1.8-litre petrol strong hybrid with 158bhp, set to arrive by Diwali 2026. Other engines include a 1.3-litre turbo (161bhp) and a 1.0-litre turbo (99bhp) with manual or DCT options.
