Toyota has released an official teaser of the upcoming Century SUV on its website. This is a build-up to the full reveal, which is just a few days away. As confirmed by the Japanese car manufacturer, we can have a look at the Toyota Century SUV on September 6 this year, as a "new car presentation" will be held on its official YouTube channel. The brand has not revealed all the technical specifications and information regarding the SUV's global reveal. Expect all this and more to be revealed during the presentation on the said date. In a teaser, the more road-focused Century SUV features a tall body with a tailgate. Continuing to maintain the tradition with its sedan counterpart, the Toyota Century SUV is the model that will primarily be chauffeur-driven. The Century sedan is largely sold in the Japanese market, whereas the Century SUV will be available across the globe as Toyota intends to expand the Century's range of luxury models outside the home country.

Toyota Century SUV: Underpinnings

Toyota plans to offer the new product – the Century SUV – based on a monocoque chassis, which also underpins the Toyota Grand Highlander SUV. This feature is claimed to make the vehicle more suitable for road use. Even though the preview indicates a tall body, expect a similar wheelbase for the Century SUV. If we take into account some industry reports, the SUV could be around 5,200mm in length and 2,000mm in width.

Toyota Century SUV: Mechanical Specs

In terms of the mechanical hardware, we suspect that the Century SUV will receive the same plug-in hybrid set-up that is offered with the Lexus TX 550h+ – which is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 plug-in hybrid engine producing a combined power output of 406hp. However, we have no official update regarding the same. Expect them to be revealed on September 6, 2023. On the other hand, the Century sedan comes with a V8 engine.

Toyota Century SUV: Price, Rivals

Price-wise, the upcoming Century SUV is likely to cost more than the Toyota Land Cruiser, which comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.4-litre inline-four hybrid powertrain. In conjunction with an electric motor, the turbocharged engine makes 321bhp and 630Nm of torque. Upon its launch, the Century SUV could have rivals in the form of the Bentley Bentayga, the Lamborghini Urus, the Range Rover Autobiography, and more.

In the brand's line-up, the new SUV will be the second 'Century-badged' vehicle after the Century sedan, which has been on sale since 1967. As far as the Indian market is concerned, we are not sure whether the company will bring this product here. But, given its intention to expand its reach outside Japan, the new SUV could make its market entry.
