VinFast has cleared a major hurdle in India as its VF7 and VF6 electric SUVs have achieved a 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test. For a brand preparing to establish itself in a competitive EV market, safety certification plays a crucial role. Both models were evaluated under India’s official testing programme, which measures occupant protection in frontal, side and pole impact crashes. The results place the VF7 and VF6 among the highest-rated vehicles tested so far under Bharat NCAP. With Indian customers increasingly checking safety scores before making a purchase decision, this rating gives VinFast a strong foundation as it builds its electric vehicle portfolio in the country.

Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, said: 'The 5-star safety ratings awarded to VF 6 and VF 7 by Bharat NCAP mark an important milestone, underscoring the quality and high safety standards of VinFast’s electric vehicles in India, one of the world’s largest automotive markets. These results show that VinFast EVs are built on a robust engineering foundation and meet stringent safety assessment requirements.
'We remain committed to continued investment in product improvement, delivering electric vehicles that are not only environmentally friendly and technologically advanced, but also provide customers with confidence and peace of mind throughout the journey toward electrified mobility.'
The VinFast VF7 delivered a strong performance during Bharat NCAP testing. The electric SUV scored more than 28 points in adult occupant protection and crossed 45 points in child occupant protection. These scores were achieved across multiple crash scenarios that simulate real-life accident conditions on Indian roads.
In the frontal offset crash test, the VF7 recorded maximum points for head, neck and upper leg protection for both the driver and front passenger. The SUV also achieved full marks in side impact tests for adult and child occupants. During the pole side impact test, head injury readings remained well below the limits defined by Bharat NCAP, helping the VF7 comfortably secure its 5-star rating.
The VinFast VF6 also earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, making it another strong entry in the electric SUV space. The compact EV scored over 27 points for adult occupant protection and more than 44 points for child occupant protection, meeting all the required benchmarks set by the crash test agency.
In crash assessments, the VF6 achieved maximum points in frontal impact tests for its restraint systems. Side impact tests for adult and child occupants also returned full marks. Even in the narrow pole side impact test, the head injury values stayed below the Bharat NCAP critical limit, confirming solid occupant protection in high-risk scenarios.
