Volkswagen Ameo launched at Rs. 5.24 lakh

Volkswagen has carried out a soft launch for its upcoming Ameo compact sedan. As of now the new compact sedan from VW has been launched with a single petrol engine option in the form of the 1.2 litre, three cylinder unit that does duty in the manual version of the petrol fueled Volkswagen Polo. Engine specifications have not been revealed yet, however you can expect them to be similar to those of the petrol Polo MT as the Ameo also gets a five-speed manual gearbox.

The Volkswagen Ameo has been launched with three variants on offer – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Prices range from Rs. 5.24 lakh to Rs. 7.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it very good value as it is priced in the same bracket as its rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and Hyundai Xcent, but the Ameo is far better equipped.

Volkswagen’s aim behind launching the Ameo was not just to have a compact sedan offering in the market but to introduce a car with segment best equipment levels to trump is rivals as a more premium offering. Along these lines the car gets segment first equipment such as cruise control, rain sensing wipers, static cornering lights, etc.
