Volkswagen GT TSI Priced at 7.99 Lakhs

Volkswagen India launched the Polo 1.2 GT TSI with an aim to attract the attention of the enthusiasts out there. The Polo R Cup racing series has been the centre of attention for the past few years and now the German car manufacturer has brought this proper GT hatchback to India.

There is no difference at all in terms of the exterior design – it looks like every other Polo. The only added features are the alloy wheels, a chrome front grille, halogen headlamps, and the GT and TSI badge at the rear and under the C Pillars.

The interiors do get an upgrade though. Lush upholstery and an upgraded audio form the features of the Polo GT TSI. Everything else remains the same apart from the fact that it gets an autobox.

The 1.2 litre TSI petrol engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox, the first on any hatchback in the country.  The 1.2 litre engine is turbocharged so you get the same power output as the 1.6 litre petrol and it is surprisingly economical. So, there is  104 bhp and 175 Nm torque at your disposal and with all that power we presume that the accelerator will bare the brunt of your right leg.  There are also three driving modes you can select on the gearshift – Drive, Manual Drive and Sport. Volkswagen has also given it safety features like ABS, ESP and electronic engine immobilizer.

The Polo GT TSI is priced at Rs. 7.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and Volkswagen have already started taking bookings for this car.
