Volkswagen has lifted the wraps off the ID. Cross concept at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, showcasing its vision for a new compact electric SUV. Positioned as the EV sibling to the popular T-Cross, the upcoming model is aimed squarely at the small SUV segment, a space where demand continues to grow rapidly. The production version is scheduled to arrive by mid-2026, with Volkswagen targeting buyers seeking an affordable yet versatile electric car for both daily urban use and weekend getaways.

The Volkswagen ID. Cross will join the growing ID. family, reinforcing the company’s role as a key player in the rapidly evolving EV landscape.
The ID. Cross reflects Volkswagen’s "Pure Positive" design philosophy, which focuses on clean lines and modern detailing. At the front, an eye-catching LED light signature gives the SUV a distinct character while ensuring immediate recognisability. Darkened window pillars create the illusion of a floating roof, and the C-pillar treatment subtly recalls Volkswagen icons such as the Golf and the VW Bus.

Together, these design cues help the ID. Cross establishes itself as part of the wider Volkswagen legacy, while also pushing the brand’s EV design language forward.
Inside, the concept moves away from glossy trim in favour of pale fabrics and soft-touch materials that create a calmer, more welcoming atmosphere. The dashboard stretches seamlessly from one door to the other and integrates two key displays: an 11-inch digital driver’s screen and a 13-inch central touchscreen.

Eliminating most physical buttons underscores the minimalist theme, while reclining seats maximise comfort when the vehicle is stationary, allowing the cabin to double up as a lounge-like environment.
Underpinning the ID. Cross is Volkswagen’s updated MEB+ platform. The concept features a front-wheel-drive layout producing 155kW (208bhp). Range is equally important, and with battery technology improvements, the car is expected to deliver up to 420km on the WLTP cycle.

Owners will also benefit from practicality-focused details, including a 475-litre rear boot and an additional storage compartment under the bonnet, enhancing usability for day-to-day needs.
