Volkswagen has fully unveiled the new Taigun in India, and the SUV’s prices are expected to be announced by the end of this month. Pre-launch bookings are already open for a sum of Rs 11,000. The updated Taigun will be offered in five core variants and eight colour options, including two new ones. As part of the comprehensive mid-life upgrade, Volkswagen has introduced not only noticeable cosmetic updates but also added new features and a new gearbox option. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Taigun in India.

While the overall shape of the Volkswagen Taigun remains the same, the updated model gets several styling tweaks to make it look more modern and in sync with global design. The front now features sleeker LED headlamps along with a connected LED light bar and an illuminated Volkswagen logo, and a reworked bumper with black inserts and chrome accents.

When it comes to the side, the SUV gets new 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome-finished door handles, and elevated silver roof rails. Meanwhile, it adds connected LED tail lamps, an illuminated logo, and a revised bumper at the rear.

From the inside, the Volkswagen Taigun now looks more refined and sportier. It gets a larger digital instrument cluster, an integrated infotainment screen, a flat-bottom steering wheel with red highlights, leatherette seats with contrast stitching, and a panoramic sunroof. The GT Line variants stand out with exclusive badging and a black theme contrasted with red accents.
The Volkswagen Taigun offers a comprehensive suite of safety features. These include front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic differential lock, hill-hold assist, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
While the set of engines available on the SUV remains unchanged, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift introduces meaningful upgrades in the form of a new 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre TSI engine (113.4bhp/178Nm), replacing the older 6-speed unit. The 1.5-litre TSI unit-equipped variants (148bhp/250Nm) continue with the DSG transmission but now come equipped with rear disc brakes.
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model, which is available between Rs 11.42 lakh and Rs 19.18 lakh (ex-showroom). Post launch, it will continue to go head-on-head against the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Renault Duster.
