Volkswagen will unveil the updated Taigun in India on April 9, 2026. Compared to the outgoing model, which missed out on key features such as ADAS and a panoramic sunroof, the new iteration is expected to be better equipped. Spy images suggest a sharper design language for the revised mid-size SUV from the German brand. Buyers can expect more slender headlights joined by a DRL strip and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The taillamps could come with revised lighting elements. Other tweaks may include redesigned bumpers and a new grille.
Overall, the Taigun Facelift is likely to maintain its silhouette while adding some notable updates to improve its market standing. This move will enable the SUV to boost its competitive appeal and strengthen rivalry with the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Kia Seltos.
The cabin of the updated Taigun will likely have a revised colour scheme and new upholstery. Volkswagen may also introduce features seen on the recently updated Kushaq, including a rear seat massage function. In addition, the SUV could offer powered and ventilated seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.

Additionally, the German carmaker is expected to make improvements to the air conditioning system to increase the in-cabin comfort.
The Taigun, in its facelifted avatar, will likely stick with its current engine options, including the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (113.4bhp/178Nm) and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (148bhp/250Nm). As for transmission, the options will also most likely to be carried over. That said, Volkswagen could refine the driving experience by introducing an 8-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0-litre unit, replacing the current 6-speed gearbox.
The revised version of the Taigun is likely to be priced marginally higher than the outgoing model, which currently retails between Rs 11.42 lakh and Rs 19.18 lakh, both ex-showroom.
