The Volvo EX30, set to be the brand’s most affordable electric SUV, was recently spotted testing in India. Covered in heavy camouflage and carrying temporary Haryana plates, the SUV was seen on the Jaipur to Delhi route, suggesting that its launch is nearing. Volvo plans to introduce the EX30 in 2025 and will assemble it locally at its Hosakote facility near Bengaluru. By following the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, the brand aims to keep pricing competitive in the Indian market. Positioned below the EX40 and EC40 in Volvo’s electric lineup, the EX30 is expected to be equipped with a 69kWh battery pack. It is likely to offer a WLTP range of around 474 km and come in both single- and dual-motor versions.
A heavily disguised prototype of the Volvo EX30 was recently seen on Indian roads, but key visual cues still hinted at its identity. Distinctive pixel-style vertical LED taillights extended into the D-pillars, unmistakably linking it to the Volvo design language.

The front profile appears inspired by the larger EX90, showcasing a flush grille paired with sleek ‘Thor’s Hammer’ signature LED headlamps. Consistent with the global version, the charging port is placed on the rear-left panel. The coupe-like silhouette, enhanced by a contrasting black roof and aerodynamic alloys, gives the SUV a contemporary electric appeal.

Inside, the EX30 is expected to follow Volvo’s clean, uncluttered interior philosophy. The cabin will likely use eco-friendly, recycled materials and centre around a portrait-style touchscreen interface supported by Google’s latest infotainment platform. Safety tech may include multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance features.
The SUV is built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. In global markets, the EX30 is sold with various powertrain options and two battery choices. For India, the Swedish carmaker is likely to offer the larger 69kWh NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) battery, expected to be available in both single-motor and dual-motor layouts. The rear-wheel-drive variant claims a range of up to 474 km on the WLTP test cycle.
