This issue is our attempt to take your mind off the distressing COVID headlines

Indulge yourself, instead, with visuals and specs of the new Monster from Ducati, Trident from Triumph and 7 Series from BMW. While nothing can soften the harsh reality of the tragic blow that Covid has extracted from most Indian families, we can only hope that our effort in putting together this issue during these trying times brings you some relief, some pleasure and some hope of hitting the road once this is all behind us.

The Monster does without a trellis frame for the first time but still looks as menacing as ever. Meanwhile, the trifecta that the Trident promises is premium, sporty and affordable! On the four-wheel front, if the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class is anything to go by, then it’s clear that the next-gen 7 Series from BMW will have its work cut out for it. And, of course, it’s expected to come to market with that ‘ridiculous’ snout – BMW’s latest trademark – which, in my mind, will do it no favours. And speaking of aggressive snouts, there’s an exhaustive test of the brand-new BMW M4 – which has got rave reviews from the driver’s seat mind you (from where you’re not subjected to the visual onslaught of its oversized nostrils).

2021 BMW M3 And M4

Design is subjective of course, so whatever your personal opinion, you’ve got to hand it to BMW for taking such a bold design direction. All said and done, their new cars will certainly stand out from the crowd and will never be mistaken for anything else on the road. What you think of them is up to you, but what I can guarantee you is that they’ll continue to lead the way dynamically. The question is, how important will the driving experience be in the future? Will it be screen size and autonomous driving ability that’ll lead the way or will people still pay a premium for a superior driving experience? I know where my priorities lie, but what about you folks?

Back to the Covid headlines before I end. There are some signs that, if nothing else, the growth rate of Covid cases is dropping. So, hang in there, don’t lose hope, and we’ll get through this together. In the meantime, enjoy this issue, and be sure to get your vaccine whenever possible… the sooner the better!
