Two lakh rupees has quietly become one of the most exciting price brackets in motorcycling today. It is the point where buyers move beyond basic commuters and start looking for machines that promise a little more adventure - motorcycles that can handle weekday commutes and still make sense when the road disappears on the weekend.
That is exactly the promise behind this comparison.
On one side sits the Royal Enfield Scram 440 - a rugged, simple machine built around a torquey air-cooled engine and a laid-back riding character. It leans heavily on mechanical honesty, easygoing ergonomics, and the sort of reliability that appeals to riders who prefer simplicity over sophistication.
On the other side is the TVS Apache RTX — a far more modern interpretation of the adventure motorcycle. It is lighter, packed with technology, and built around a high-revving liquid-cooled engine. With ride modes, traction control, a TFT display, cruise control, and a quick-shifter, the RTX takes a very different approach to the same problem.
Both motorcycles promise to be the ultimate “one-bike garage” - capable of tackling the daily office run during the week and dirt trails on the weekend.
So which one actually delivers the better all-round package?
Karan Mathur puts the Royal Enfield Scram 440 and TVS Apache RTX through their paces - analysing their design, ergonomics, technology, performance, handling, and off-road ability - to find out which motorcycle truly deserves that single parking spot in your garage.
