We take a look at some of the most innovative products showcased at this year’s Auto Expo Components show.

BorgWarner

BorgWarner’s pavilion at the Auto Expo Components 2020 showcased the brand’s current & future products from three main technological categories – Internal Combustion, Hybrid & Electric Vehicles. Moreover, BorgWarner’s key focus was to demonstrate its readiness to supply Indian automotive clients with BS-VI compliant propulsion systems - such as its latest gasoline exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) products, gasoline variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers as well as an innovative eTurbo solution.

However, what caught our attention was the range of products from BorgWarner’s EV components portfolio (that is yet to arrive on our shores). From thermal-engineered high energy-density battery modules to battery & cabin heaters, the range sure looked promising. BorgWarner’s proprietary EV cabin heaters are in use by global EV giants like Tesla.

ByBre

ByBre (by Brembo) launched two new versions of its single- and double-piston floating brake callipers at the Auto Expo Components 2020. Meant for small-to-medium displacement motorcycles & scooters, ByBre’s new range of brake callipers has been developed specifically to enhance the visual appeal of a brake calliper when fitted to a vehicle.

Thus, the new range features a very smooth & elegant design – a departure from the conventional look of a brake calliper –  which is further highlighted by a removable bridge canopy. This canopy is available in multiple colours in order to match the colour of your vehicle, or it can be removed altogether in order to improve ventilation and cooling of the brake pads. In the words of Mr Sudhir Nirantar, CEO of Brembo Brake India Pvt Ltd, ‘Brembo is not just about providing cutting-edge braking solutions and products. In fact, we’re also about making products that offer unparalleled visual appeal as well to our customers.’ – an inherent trait of an Italian OEM!

Varroc

Varroc had some really interesting automotive lighting products to show at the Auto Expo Components 2020. Some of them are already in production for international clients like KTM and Jaguar Land Rover, and according to Varroc, they are soon to hit the Indian market as well. Some of our top picks in the lighting section include the surface LED lamps and the OLED (Organic LED) signal lamps.

Varroc Surface LED Taillight

Varroc LED Taillight

The former, as the name suggests, is a super-compact solution for modern-day bulky LED headlamp & taillamp assemblies that uses thin, curved LED elements instead of conventional LED bulbs. The OLED signal lamps, on the other hand, project distinct light signatures on the road for numerous vehicle operations, such as braking, reverse, tailgating, etc. This allows nearby drivers and pedestrians to easily identify and interpret the actions of a vehicle pre-emptively, thereby decreasing the chances of an accident.

Varroc E Scooter

Also, on display at Varroc’s pavilion was also an electric scooter, which has been built in-house by Varroc using their own electric automotive technologies and components (apart from the chassis & wheels).
