Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza showcased at 2016 Auto Expo

Maruti Suzuki kicks off the 2016 Auto Expo by revealing its all-new Vitara Brezza compact SUV that will be initially be offered with a diesel engine only

Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps of its brand new Vitara Brezza compact SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. A few days ago Maruti released images of the Vitara Brezza online and while the vehicle looked a bit slab sided there, we are happy to report that it indeed looks better in the metal. Maruti has given the car a dual colour theme that gives the car an eye catchy appeal with its contrast ORVM and roof that they call a ‘floating roof concept’. The Vitara gets a chunky chrome grille flanked by projector head lamps with LED elements. The side profile of the car gets black cladding in the lower section that incorporates squarish wheel archs and short overhangs. The rear of the car gets split tail lamps like the S-Cross, a thick chrome strip over the recessed license plate housing. The bumper again has a black plastic section with a silver centre section styled like a faux skid plate. The Vitara Brezza gets 215/60 R16 wheels and a198mm ground clearance.

The interior gets mood lighting and a modern instrument cluster and large touch screen infotainment system with SmartPlay. The interiors of the Vitara Brezza like those of the Baleno and S-Cross have an all black colour theme.

Under the hood, the new Maruti Vitara Brezza will be powered by the famed 1.3 litre, MultiJet diesel engine in the higher 88bhp spec. Power and torque figures are rated at 88bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 200NM @ 1,750Nm. The engine will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while an automatic is also a possibility.

Maruti will be launching the new compact SUV with a driver airbag as standard while a passenger airbag, ABS and EBD will be offered as options from the base variant onwards.
