Jeep Compass Long Term Report: April 2018

After not having a long-term car for my use for a long time, I was quite happy when I got the Jeep Compass as my new long-termer. Highly anticipated in India and quite a success, I too was quite excited at the prospect of this being my daily driver. And the response of people around me was what I expected, the family was quite chuffed at travelling in this premium SUV and I can see envious looks from my neighbours on a regular basis! 

The Compass does have fantastic road presence, and in its bright blue hue draws a lot of attention wherever I go. Driving it is quite an experience as the 2-litre diesel engine is quite powerful and doing three-digit speeds is a breeze. And the ride and handling balance is even more impressive with the Compass handling both high speeds and our broken roads without breaking a sweat. However, given its dimensions, I do wish that it would have a little more interior space. 

Even though it comes equipped with all-wheel drive as standard with various drive modes, my usage, like most Compass customers, is going to be mainly the urban commute and highway travel. And, with the summer vacations coming up soon, I can’t wait to take the Compass out on a long trip with the family and test its long distance capabilities.
