Practicality Pays
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been the most ‘passed around’ long-term vehicle we have ever had. The fact that it offers a beautiful ride and is extremely comfortable and practical for city, or long distance use, has made it the most ‘Dzirable’ car in our fleet – no pun intended. The DZire has now clocked over 8,000km and there is not a single fault with the car. Throughout the winter there was never any cold-start problems and the heater worked exceptionally well to keep the cabin nice and cosy, even in the coldest Delhi chill.

We also managed to do a few long distance excursions, the longest was a near 1,200km road trip around the Himalayas. Now, that I am back to driving it around the city as my everyday commuter, the car still feels brand new and makes daily driving in the city hassle free and enjoyable. I also need to point out that the fuel economy in the petrol automatic variant is pretty good, considering that I am very throttle happy most of the time. The only thing that doesn’t suit me though is the gearbox response time, but for the ‘average Joe’, I don’t see it being much ofa bother.
Overall, the Dzire is still one of the best long-term vehicles we have had and I don’t think any of us would like to see it go back any time soon.
