The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, launched in November last year, has attained a 5-star safety rating in the latest round of the Bharat NCAP crash tests. It scored an impressive 29.46 out of 32 for adult occupant safety and 41.57 out of 49 for child occupant protection. This marks a major milestone for Maruti Suzuki, as the Dzire had already made headlines by becoming the brand’s first model to earn a five-star rating from Global NCAP ahead of its Indian debut. In that assessment, it received 31.24 out of 34 for adult safety and a solid 4-star rating for child protection with a score of 39.20 out of 49. In addition to the Dzire, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno also underwent testing under the Bharat NCAP programme and received 4 stars.
Here's a detailed crash test report of the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
During the frontal offset deformable barrier assessment, the Dzire scored 14.17 out of 16 points. The results showed that both front passengers were well protected in critical areas like the head, neck, pelvis, and femurs. Protection for the driver’s feet and the co-driver’s left tibia was also rated as good. However, chest protection wasn’t uniform; while the co-driver received an adequate score, the driver's chest protection was rated as marginal. The tibias of both occupants received an adequate score, except for the co-driver’s left side, which fared better.

In contrast, the side impact tests showed even stronger results. The Dzire scored 15.29 out of 16 in the side deformable barrier evaluation. It provided good protection to the driver’s head, abdomen, and pelvis in both the side pole and deformable barrier impact tests, although chest protection in the barrier test was rated as merely adequate.
In terms of child occupant safety, the Dzire achieved 23.57 points out of 24. It also attained 12 points for the installation of Child Restraint Systems (CRS). However, the overall child safety rating was slightly impacted by the vehicle assessment score, which was 6 out of a total of 13 points.
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes packed with a suite of advanced safety features, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), six airbags (standard), ISOFIX child-seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, three-point seatbelts for all five passengers, and rear parking sensors.
Powering the new Dzire is a 1.2-litre Z Series petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 80bhp and a peak torque of 112Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission.
