Maruti Suzuki Swift Long Term Review, December 2024 Report
A quick calculation with the indicated mileage times the 37-litre fuel tank means a range of over 700km per tank in the city!

There are many reasons why you should buy the all-new Swift and there are some factors that may suggest you look elsewhere. But there’s no denying the fact that even today, mileage is one of the biggest factors in the minds of new car buyers when making a decision, and as a result, the Swift continues to be a lucrative offering. To keep this charm intact, Maruti Suzuki’s all-new engine – the Z12E, is a three-cylinder unit which allows it to be compact. This should come in handy as Maruti plans to introduce a strong hybrid system in a later iteration.
This month, I decided to drive conservatively after fueling up the tank completely. It is important to note that this was not a hyper-mileage run as I did not let go of any overtaking opportunities. All I did was coast when I could, use the start/stop system and keep the RPMs on the lower end of the band. The result? An astonishing 650km clocked in everyday city driving conditions on a full tank. And, to top it all, the onboard computer says I am averaging 19.2km/l. A quick calculation with the indicated mileage times the 37-litre fuel tank means a range of over 700km per tank in the city! This is beyond impressive and has blown everyone’s mind in the office. The question is, does the Swift even need a hybrid?
