Maruti Suzuki Swift Long Term Review, November 2024 Report

I have been enjoying my time with the Maruti Suzuki Swift as it has been a great fit for my everyday driving conditions and requirements. You see, I must travel through some of the busiest roads in Delhi-NCR to reach office every day, and back home. And in those conditions, what matters is having a car of a size that doesn’t give you stress, offers decent fuel efficiency and modern amenities like Wireless Apple CarPlay and a good sound system. That would pretty much make it a complete package. No wonder, then, that the Swift is one of India’s highest selling cars for all these years.

However, I would reserve my everyday driving observations for a later report. Today, I want to talk about the autoX Awards jury round. While you may have already read about the fancy list of cars and motorcycles that show up to bag the coveted title of ‘Best of 2024,’ what you may not know is the amount of effort that goes behind the scenes to bring all of it together. Everything from the shooting, to driving, to testing and even to hauling equipment and consumables – it’s a logisticial challenge. While we have been doing this for 18 years now, it doesn’t make it any easy. What we do know from experience is that while there are a lot of cars in high demand from the jury and crew members alike, there are very few that are able to adapt to all kinds of usage requirements. From being a work horse to a car that relaxes you on the drive home after a long day, to a car that you actually enjoy driving in city conditions as well as on the race track – the Maruti Suzuki Swift did it all.

No wonder, then, that it made the cut to become the ‘Best of 2024’ amongst a long list of heavy hitters that bring forth all kinds of tricks and techniques to squeeze out that last crucial bit of points to win. As for the Swift, the story was slightly different. Its biggest strong point is just how well it does the bare basics of what makes a car memorable. And it does so with the backing of the largest sales and service support network, by far, in the country. I’m just glad that with the most hectic event of the year behind us, I can continue to spend time with not just a great car, but one of the best that came out this year.
