Audi Lists Iconic R18 LMP1 and RS5 DTM Race Cars for Sale

Audi has launched the Racing Legends Project Team, allowing motorsport fans to buy fully restored race cars from its LMP1 and DTM history. The lineup includes the 2012 Audi R18 e-tron quattro and the 2015 RS5 DTM, both track-ready with full technical support and spare parts. These cars will be displayed at Audi Sport’s Neuburg headquarters and will race in historic events like the Le Mans Classic and the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Each car has a strong racing past. The R18 (#207) won the 2012 Spa 6 Hours with Romain Dumas, Loic Duval, and Marc Gene, while the RS5 DTM (#107) took victory in the 2015 DTM season finale with Timo Scheider. Audi Sport’s managing director, Rolf Michl, said the restoration uses original parts and expert skills. These cars will be delivered to buyers this summer, ready to hit the track.

This project is similar to Ferrari’s F1 Clienti programme, which lets collectors drive historic race cars. Audi Sport is also reducing customer racing activities, ending production of the R8 GT3, GT2, GT4, and RS3 TCR models. The last R8 GT3 was built in November 2023, closing a 14-year production run.

Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH. said: “We are rebuilding these chassis together with reconditioned parts from that time into racing cars according to strict standards and with a high level of expertise. In some cases, even the developers from that era are involved in the current projects.
