Haas F1 Team has made an early driver call for the 2026 F1 season by signing Jack Doohan as its reserve, and it is a move that fits where the team is heading. Doohan arrives with recent race exposure, current tyre knowledge, and experience working inside a modern, data-driven race team. That matters when simulator work, correlation runs, and limited testing shape almost every decision. Rather than gambling on an unfamiliar option, Haas has gone for experience, putting a driver in place who can contribute immediately as preparations for the 2026 reset gather pace.

Jack Doohan said: 'I'm thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team. 'It's the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together. I'm eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season.'

Most of Doohan’s work will take place in the simulator, where much of a race weekend is now built. With testing restrictions still tight, simulator feedback guides car balance, upgrade paths, and set-up direction. Haas has relied heavily on this process in recent seasons, and Doohan slots into that structure without disruption.
Time spent at Alpine gives Doohan useful reference points across different power unit and chassis concepts. Exposure to varied engineering approaches often helps teams during early development phases, particularly when regulations change and design directions are still open.
For Doohan, the reserve role keeps him embedded in Formula 1 operations. Simulator sessions, testing duties, and technical briefings ensure he stays race-ready. With its driver structure locked in early, Haas can now focus fully on developing its 2026 car.
