Anticipation is rising in the F1 world as the Las Vegas Strip prepares to host the upcoming race. Initial concerns were alleviated when detailed images of the track surfaced, showcasing its impressive condition. After clinching the drivers' championship, Max Verstappen is looking to keep his winning streak going in the United States after victories in Miami and Austin. Sergio Perez, his teammate from Red Bull, continues to lead Lewis Hamilton for second position by 32 points.

The constructors' championship is also a highly competitive matter, with Mercedes and Ferrari engaged in a fierce duel. Now that the season's final two races have been run, only 20 points separate the two rivals.

The Las Vegas GP is slated to unfold on an atypical timetable, with the race scheduled for Saturday night. Due to the one-of-a-kind scheduling, audiences in Europe and Asia will be able to see the show in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Track activities kick off earlier than usual on Thursday evening, featuring Free Practice 1, followed by FP2 at midnight. Notably, this event marks the first Grand Prix to be held on a Saturday night since the conclusion of the 1985 season, with the South African Grand Prix being the last to do so.

F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023: About the Nevada Street Circuit

F1 Las Vegas Race 2

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is shaping up to be a highlight of the Formula 1 season, and it's being touted as one of the most anticipated FIA-sanctioned races. The track's attractiveness, in addition to the city of Las Vegas's own magnetic appeal, helps to increase anticipation for the show. The course, which is 3.8 km long and has 17 turns (one of which is the world-famous Las Vegas Boulevard), is widely praised and debated among racing fans.

The timing of the race has emerged as the most divisive issue, despite the fact that the track layout is still up for debate. With the exception of Las Vegas, a start time of 10 p.m. local time wouldn't often raise eyebrows. The city is located in the middle of a desert, where overnight lows can dip below 10 degrees Celsius. The FIA's apparent lack of taking into account these temperature issues during race organisation has undoubtedly increased the level of difficulty associated with the event.

The track's similarities to Monza, especially in the straights, make it a difficult test for the teams. Adapting to the necessity of cutting downforce and handling poor grip conditions becomes a critical component of the plan as teams battle with the distinctive characteristics of the Las Vegas GP.
