Red Bull Racing has revealed its 2026 Formula 1 car livery in Detroit, and this launch feels important for the F1 team and fans. The event was held at Michigan Central Station to mark the start of Red Bull’s new technical partnership with Ford. This was more than a normal livery reveal; it was the first public step of the Red Bull Ford Powertrains project. After years of using customer engines, Red Bull is now moving towards its own F1 power unit programme. This is a big shift as Red Bull, as the team, prepares for new F1 rules in 2026.

The RB22 will race in the 2026 F1 season under updated FIA regulations. It will use a power unit developed by Red Bull Powertrains with support from Ford. This makes the Red Bull RB22 one of the cars to watch in the build-up to the new era. The Detroit launch also marked the first time the joint Red Bull and Ford branding appeared together on a Formula 1 car.

The livery retains the familiar yet refreshed Red Bull colours but now includes clear Ford branding across the car. This reflects Red Bull’s move away from relying on external F1 engine suppliers. For fans, this change matters as it shows the team taking control of its technical direction with Ford Performance engineers involved in the 2026 power unit programme.

Driving the RB22 in 2026 will be four-time world champion Max Verstappen alongside new team driver Isack Hadjar. Verstappen remains central to Red Bull’s plans, while Hadjar joins at a time when F1 teams are adapting to new power unit rules. Their feedback will be key as RB22 development continues through the season.

The launch also included the 2026 livery reveal of Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls (VCARB). While the design stays separate, both teams now align under the same powertrain strategy. With major F1 regulation changes coming in 2026, this Detroit reveal shows that Red Bull and Ford are ready to start the next chapter in Formula 1 history.
