Recovering from a knee injury, Sarath Kumar has scored his first point in the Asia Road Racing Championship, racing in the SuperSports 600cc category for T-Pro Yuzy Honda Racing team. Sarath qualified 20th for the first race on Saturday, but in the wake of many riders retireing ahead of him, Sarath finished 15th by which he was awarded his first championship point in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In Race 2, Sarath finished 17th and had a satisfying conclusion to his weekend after missing out the first two rounds, held in Malaysia and Thailand, of the championship due to his knee injury. In the previous round in Japan, Sarath only took one start but improved on his lap times with every outing.

Sarath said: “I am very happy with the progress and this is the first time I was able to the ride the bike to its fullest potential. I am still having problems with my knee which bothers me towards the end of the races, after about 10 laps. However, it is a good sign that the recovery is happening.

“Now I am lot more excited and preparing for my home race in Buddh International Circuit on October 1-2. Once again, a long break and I will be working hard on my recovery and more practice to get to good pace at the BIC.” he added.
