TVS Motors' racing outfit will make their global road racing debut at the Asia Road Racing Championship 2020, which kicks off on March 6 in Malaysia.

TVS Racing has announced that its racing arm, TVS Racing, will be taking part in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) in 2020. The team will field three riders – two Indians and a Thai racer – in the championship. This will also mark TVS Racing’s global debut in the international road racing championship arena. However, this won’t be TVS Racing’s first global motorsports event as the team already participates in Dakar rally with Sherco Racing.

Coming to the riders, Jagan Kumar needs no introduction as he’s one of the superstars in the local motorcycle racing circle. Jagan is an eight-time Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC) winner and will, undoubtedly, lead TVS Racing’s programme in ARRC. The second Indian rider, KY Ahamed, is a budding talent and is one of the fastest guys in INMRC and has scored multiple races wins for TVS Racing. The third rider in the team is Vorapong Malahuan, who hails from Thailand and has been racing since the age of 12. In his career so far, he has participated in numerous international and domestic racing series in Thailand, including ARRC, says TVS.

As for the motorcycle and category, all three riders will be racing with the company’s race-spec TVS Apache RR 310 in the Asia Production 250 (AP250) class. This will be the first time an India-made motorcycle will contest in ARRC. That said, Honda two-wheelers India has been participating in ARRC with a full-factory backed team since 2018. The team also participated in 2016 and 2017 in SuperSport 600 and AP250 categories, although not as a factory team. However, TVS Racing will become the first racing team from India to compete over a full season of ARRC in 2020. The first race of the 2020 season will kick off on March 6 at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
