As Formula E pre-season group testing gets underway in Valencia, Mahindra Racing has outlined its Season 12 ambitions — targeting a stronger start and its first race win after finishing fourth in the Teams’ Championship last year with 186 points.
Team Principal and CEO Frédéric Bertrand said the off-season focus has been on software, traction, and qualifying pace, particularly in the crucial 350kW qualifying duel phase. “We’ve secured points and podiums, but we still miss the top step on the podium. Winning races is definitely the goal,” Bertrand said. “We’ve done our homework; let’s hope others have worked a little less.”

Bertrand described the team’s rebuild progress as “seven out of ten,” adding that development on the current Gen3 EVO car will continue “until the last minute.” “Our focus is Season 12. We want this car to win. If we stop, we go backwards — and we don’t want to risk that,” he said.
Drivers Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara echoed the team’s optimism but stressed the need for measured expectations. “Before talking about a championship, we first want to hear the Indian national anthem on the podium,” said De Vries. Mortara added, “We now have a car that performs well everywhere, and the updates for this season look very promising.”

Mahindra has also launched its ‘Scream Electric’ campaign to connect its Formula E efforts with its growing electric SUV portfolio in India, including the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Bertrand confirmed that software and efficiency learnings from Formula E are already filtering into Mahindra’s road-car programmes.
Mahindra’s Season 12 campaign begins in São Paulo this December, with the team aiming to start “fast and strong” — and finally convert potential into victory.
