MotoGP champion Jorge Martin is preparing for his long-awaited return to racing at the Czech Grand Prix later this month. The Spaniard completed 64 laps during a private test at Misano, marking a major step in his recovery. Aprilia confirmed his performance was encouraging, although a final medical check will determine if he can race in Brno from July 18 to 20. This comeback follows a difficult few months for Martin, who was sidelined after a crash during his debut race weekend with Aprilia in Qatar, suffering a collapsed lung and bruised ribs.

Martin’s 2025 season has been anything but smooth. His troubles began with a pre-season crash that left him with wrist and ankle fractures, forcing him to miss the first three rounds. When he returned in Qatar, he finished 16th in the Sprint but crashed out of the main race. So far, he has only one race appearance this season.
Off the track, Martin’s situation remains tense. He has openly expressed his wish to leave Aprilia before the 2026 season, despite being under a two-year contract. Aprilia, however, insists on honouring the deal and has even threatened legal action if Martin tries to leave early.
Aprilia has faced a challenging season without Martin. His teammate Marco Bezzecchi is sixth in the championship, 186 points behind leader Marc Marquez, who has dominated the season with 307 points. The team had high hopes for Martin, but his absence has left them scrambling for results. He will also miss the German Grand Prix, marking the season’s halfway point.

Before the Misano test, Martin had eased back into riding with a Superbike session in Barcelona—his first in three months. Martin’s immediate goal is to regain form and fight for wins, even as uncertainty over his future with Aprilia lingers.
