MotoGP returns to Europe this weekend with the much-anticipated Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, a famous track with plenty of racing history. Even though the latest move was to Portimao, Jerez is still the first stop for the real start of the European season. It has been the site of races since 1987. Jorge Martin is currently in first place in the championship, 21 points ahead of Enea Bastianini, another Ducati rider. A lot of attention is on Martin as he tries to keep his lead at home. Defending champion Francesco Bagnaia wants to repeat his win from last year when he beat Jorge Martin.

The 2024 season hasn't started well for Bagnaia. His crash in the Portuguese Grand Prix after colliding with Marc Marquez was scary, and he finished fifth in the Americas Grand Prix, which was disappointing. Even though Bagnaia had a great start to the season in Qatar, he is now in fifth place in the title standings. As the race for the championship gets closer, all eyes are on Martin and his competitors as they try to win fame and important championship points through the twists and turns of Jerez.
