<p><strong>autoX Awards 2024:</strong> Earlier this year, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ampere/">Ampere</a> launched its most premium model to date, the Nexus electric scooter, available in two variants – the base EX, priced at ₹1.10 lakh, and the higher-spec ST variant, which we tested, at ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of design, the Nexus has a somewhat boxy look, particularly around the apron. However, Ampere has added DRL elements to the headlight and taillight, giving it a decent aesthetic touch. The scooter is offered in four colour options, each featuring a contrasting black stripe down the centre. The seat is spacious enough for two people, and while the under-seat storage is practical, it isn’t the largest in its class.</p>

<p>Powered by a 5.3bhp motor, the Nexus can reach a claimed top speed of 93km/h, which is decent enough. It accelerates well and is a breeze to ride in the city. In fact, it managed to outperform the Ather Rizta by six seconds and nearly matched the TVS Jupiter. The scooter feels lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, though at higher speeds, it becomes apparent that it could benefit from better tyres. Being electric, the Nexus is smooth and silent. Equipped with a 3kWh battery pack, it provides a certified range of 136km per charge, in line with other scooters in its segment.</p>

<p>The Nexus features a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, which now has become the norm in the segment. While it’s a full-colour display, it lacks touch functionality. The information layout could be clearer, and visibility in direct sunlight is somewhat poor. Additionally, the build quality falls a bit short compared to its competitors. For its price, the Nexus is offered with a decent set of features and capabilities. However, it doesn’t offer anything uniquely compelling; it’s a good enough product in itself, but it doesn’t distinguish itself in a segment where more established brands already have similar offerings. In short, it does what others already do.</p>

The price&nbsp;of the entry-level Reo Li Plus now stands at Rs&nbsp;59,900, a reduction from the earlier Rs 69,900, whereas the&nbsp;Magnus has a starting price of Rs&nbsp;84,900 for the LT variant. The latter's EX variant sets you back by Rs 94,900. The prices are ex-showroom, India.&nbsp;While Ampere hasn't revealed the exact reason behind the price hike, it might have been&nbsp;done to push its inventory. <p>Ampere Electric has launched its most premium electric scooter in the Indian market. Called the Nexus, the scooter comes in two variants&nbsp;– EX and ST, priced at Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh, respectively. Both prices are introductory, ex-showroom. After the introductory offer ends, the prices of the Ampere EX and ST will be increased to Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The bookings for the&nbsp;Ampere Nexus are underway for a token amount of Rs 9,999, while the deliveries for the same will commence by the end of May 2024 across Ampere's 400+ outlets in the country.</p>

<p>In terms of design, the Ampere Nexus strays away from the&nbsp;NXG concept showcased at Auto Expo 2023. It is said to be a family-oriented electric scooter, which gets a 235mm long floorboard, a large underseat storage area, a&nbsp;diamond-cut LED headlight, flat body panels, a rectangular LED taillight, as well as air vents both at the front and rear to aid cooling. You get a choice of four colour options:&nbsp;Indian Red, Zanskar Aqua, Steel Grey,&nbsp;and Lunar White.</p>

<h2>Ampere Nexus: Features</h2>

<p>Features-wise, both variants of the&nbsp;Ampere Nexus offer&nbsp;full LED lighting. While the entry-level EX features a&nbsp;6.2-inch LCD screen, the top-spec variant sports a&nbsp;7.0-inch touchscreen&nbsp;TFT display with&nbsp;turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth. The latter also gets an auto day/night mode. Other bits on the scooter include five riding modes and hill-hold assist.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Ampere Nexus: Battery, Motor</h2>

<p>This in-house developed Ampere Nexus is equipped with an IP67-rated, 3kWh&nbsp;LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack with a certified range of 136 kilometres. The battery, which takes about 3.5 hours to charge, sends power to a&nbsp;mid-mounted electric motor that makes 5.3bhp of peak power. A&nbsp;15A charger is available as standard.&nbsp;Ampere says the top speed of the Nexus is 93km/h&nbsp;in 'Power' mode. However, the performance in&nbsp;City and Eco modes reduces to 63km/h and 42km/h, respectively.&nbsp;Also, there is a Limp Home mode&nbsp;that gets activated when the battery dips below 20 per cent. You get a reverse mode as well.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Ampere Nexus: Suspension, Brakes</h2>

<p>The Ampere Nexus features a new&nbsp;underbone chassis, with&nbsp;a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from&nbsp;a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, both of which are mounted on&nbsp;12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in&nbsp;90/90-section tyres.</p>

<h2>Ampere Primus Electric Scooter: Key Highlights&nbsp;</h2>

<p>There are three diverse EVs, offered under the Ampere brand: the Primus, the Magnus EX, and the Zeal EX.&nbsp;According to Ampere, the Primus can go from 0 to 40 km/h in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 77 km/h. The Primus e-scooter is equipped with a 3kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery, which is claimed to provide it a range of 107 kilometre&nbsp;in Power mode on a single charge. The new Primus has a&nbsp;22-litre of storage capacity and a wheelbase of&nbsp;1400mm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Less than two months into the launch of the Magnus Pro, Ampere Electric has announced a unique battery subscription plan. Customer can ride home Ampere’s flagship model by paying just Rs 49,990 at the time of purchase and pay Rs 1,990 as a monthly battery subscription. The Magnus Pro was introduced at Rs 73,990 (ex-showroom). As of now, this unique subscription plan is only on offer for the Magnus Pro in Bengaluru – the company plans to roll out this offer in other cities soon. Ampere has joined hands with Autovert Technologies, a Fintech that specializes in EV subscriptions products to launch this initiative. With the help of this partnership, Ampere Electric will also offer other benefits like extended 5-year warranty, insurance and full vehicle service and maintenance for 2 years.</p>

<p>In addition to this offer, customers can also opt for full vehicle subscription plans starting at Rs 2,777. As of now, this finance scheme is only being offered with the Magnus Pro and the Zeal. Ampere has also joined hands with OTO Capital to offer vehicle leasing plans for its products. While the leasing option has only commenced in Bengaluru as of now, Ampere has plans to extend it to Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai and Cochin by the end of this year.</p>

<p>Ampere Electric launched the Magnus Pro in June. It draws its power from a 30Ah lithium-ion battery pack that works in union with a 1200W motor. Ampere claims that the Magnus Pro has a riding range of 75-80km and can record a top-speed of 55km/h. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Ampere currently has over 400 touchpoints for the sales and service of the six electric scooters they have in their product portfolio.</p>

<p>The Magnus Pro looks identical to the Magnus 60 that is on sale. Ampere Vehicles has launched the Magnus Pro in four colour options - Bluish Pearl White, Golden Yellow, Graphite Black &amp;&nbsp;Metallic Red. Ampere seems to have improved the quality and overall fit &amp;&nbsp;finish. Sitting at the top of the variant range, the Magnus Pro comes with a fully-digital instrument cluster, LED headlights, boot light, USB charger and an anti-theft alarm.</p>

<p>Powering the Ampere Magnus Pro is a 30Ah lithium-ion battery pack that propels a 1200W&nbsp;motor, giving it a claimed riding range of 75-80km on a single full charge. The company claims that the Magnus Pro can record a top speed of 55km/h. The real highlight of this electric scooter though&nbsp;has to be its 82kg kerb weight, which makes it lighter than every traditional petrol-powered scooter. Suspension duties are performed by telescopic forks at the front and coil springs at the back. Braking force comes from drum brakes at both ends which are assisted by a combi brake&nbsp;system.</p>
