It uses new&nbsp;cylindrical battery cells that can store 20% more energy compared&nbsp;to the older battery cells BMW used before. These batteries&nbsp;are built into the car’s structure, which helps make the vehicle lighter and stronger.&nbsp;It improves both how far the car can travel on a charge and how well it performs.&nbsp;The Gen6 system will first appear in the iX3 and then be used in many other BMW models in the future.</p><p>Owing to its advanced battery system, the iX3 prototype can go up to 800 kilometres&nbsp;on one charge according to WLTP standards, and even 900&nbsp;kilometres on the CLTC cycle. With a 400 kW DC fast charger on board, the iX3 makes recharging quick and convenient for any journey. Moreover,&nbsp;it can add over 350 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes of charging. The iX3 has&nbsp;a smart charging flap that opens by itself when you’re ready to charge and closes when you’re done.
