<p>Harley-Davidson confirms that the new sporty cruiser will be launched in India by the end of this year. This new sports cruiser from Harley-Davidson will directly rival the 2021&nbsp;Ducati Diavel 1260 and the price is expected to be at par as well. Internationally, the Sportster S costs $14,999, which roughly translates to Rs 10.95 lakh in today’s conversion rate. However, the Sportster S will be brought to India via the CBU route making the price go higher in the range of Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>

<p>The engine is the same 1,252cc Revolution Max 60-degree V-twin unit that we have seen in the Pan America 1250. But the state of tune is substantially lower when compared to its ADV sibling. The power is marked at 119.3bhp and 127.4Nm, and the six-speed gearbox uses a belt-drive system to forward the power to the wheel.</p>

<p>The electronics safety net includes cornering ABS and traction control based on an IMU. There are five riding modes on offer, three of which are pre-determined and the other two can be customised.</p>

Harley-Davidson Sportster S bookings open; launch soon

Harley-Davidson’s newest sports cruiser is on its way! The brand is accepting the bookings for the same and the launch of the new Sportster S is scheduled for the final quarter of the year 2021.

<p><strong>The new Sportster S is Harley Davidson’s idea of a road-going sport motorcycle. It borrows its engine from the Pan America 1250 and has key traits that can rival the updated Ducati Diavel 1260.</strong></p>

<p>The Harley Davidson Sportster S has been launched internationally. The motorcycle gets the company’s new Revolution Max engine, which comes with liquid-cooling DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshafts) and VVT (Variable Valve Timing). Despite the new mechanical updates, the Sportster S continues with Harley Davison’s traditional styling. Following are the highlights of the newly launched Harley Davidson Sportster S.</p>

<p><strong>Styling</strong></p>

<p>There is no doubt that it is an unconventional sports bike. In fact, it's more like hyper-cruisers or Sportsters, such as the Ducati Diavel 1260. The headlamp assembly exhibits similar styling as that of the Harley Davidson Pan America 1250. The tail is relatively shorter, which appears to be inspired by the Harley-Davidson XR750 flat tracker. This, in turn, largely exposes the rear wheel, adding to the naked look of the motorcycle.</p>

<p><strong>Engine</strong></p>

<p>The engine is the same 1,252cc Revolution Max 60-degree V-twin motor&nbsp;that powers the Harley Davidson Pan America 1250; however, its state of tune is different in both motorcycles. The power figures of the Sportster S are rated at 119.3bhp and 127.4Nm, which are substantially lower than that of the Pan America 1250. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission, and the power is forwarded to the wheel via a belt-drive system.</p>

<p><strong>Cycle parts</strong></p>

<p>The Sportster S shares its engine with its ADV sibling, but its cycle parts are more in line with street-going motorcycles. The Sportster S gets Showa 43mm fully-adjustable USD forks and a Showa rear pre-load adjust mono-shock. For braking, the Sportster S uses a 320mm rotor with a Brembo radial monoblock four-piston calliper at the front and a 260mm rotor with a two-piston Brembo calliper at the back. The five-spoke alloy wheels are shod with the Dunlop/Harley-Davidson Series GT503 rubber.</p>

<p><strong>Electronics&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>There is an IMU-based safety net on the new Sportster, which includes cornering ABS and traction control. The motorcycle also gets five riding modes&nbsp;– three preset modes&nbsp;(Sport, Road and Rain) and two customisable modes. An all-new instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity takes the centre stage on the dash.</p>

<p><strong>India launch</strong></p>

<p>Harley Davidson launched the Pan America 1250 in India in April. The new Sportster S is expected to arrive in the country in the coming months. Internationally, the Sportster S is priced at $14,999 ( around Rs 11.20 lakh). Harley Davidson India has not confirmed the launch of the 2021 Sportster S anytime soon, but we reckon that the American motorcycle company will not miss a chance to rival the BS6 Ducati Diavel 1260.</p>

2021 Harley Davidson Sportster S: All you need to know

The new Sportster S is Harley Davidson’s idea of a road-going sport motorcycle. It borrows its engine from the Pan America 1250 and has key traits to rival the updated Ducati Diavel 1260

<p><em>The new Harley-Davidson Street Bob was also launched along with eight other models in the Softail lineup for 2018. The major improvements to the new Softail lineup are the new chassis, new suspension, and new design, and of course, the introduction of the Milwaukee-Eight engines in all the models.</em></p>

<p>The Street Bob is bare-bones, go anywhere motorcycle and it certainly isn’t overstated in any way. It gets a new smooth-top 13.2-litre fuel tank, gloss black-spoke wheels with chopped fenders, low profile riser mounted digital instrument screen, mini-ape handlebar, signature LED headlight and dark finishes instead of chrome.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>The Street Bob is also lighter by 7 kilograms compared to the previous model. The seating, however, isn’t the most comfortable as your legs do feel a little cramped. You sit in a squat position with your knees&nbsp;leveled&nbsp;with your waist and your feet fairly close to your body. It does take some time getting a feel for this position, but after a while, you will get the hang of it. You can obviously customize the positioning of the foot-pegs and handlebars if you don’t feel that you like it.</p>

<p>The new chassis that has been developed for the Softail range is also extremely impressive. It is lighter and stiffer, and it makes the bike more stable and offers a better overall riding experience. The Milwaukee-Eight engine is&nbsp;rigid&nbsp;mounted onto the frame and there are no vibrations felt at all. The rear also gets a mono-shock at the rear that can be adjusted. The standard setup felt very good, but we were riding on some very nice roads in Spain, so we cannot say how it will feel on Indian roads, but the fact that it is easily adjustable is a big plus for Indian customers.</p>

<p>The bike also handles really well, thanks to the new suspension, and it also gets a better lean angle that will surely help in cornering. In fact, I couldn’t believe what the Street Bob was capable of doing. I could easily attack tight corners with good pace and lean heavily into either left or right turns. The bike itself is already light but it’s also certainly the&nbsp;most agile&nbsp;in the entire Softail lineup. The handling capabilities have really impressed me in the Street Bob.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine is a 1745cc V-Twin unit that is liquid cooled and has a torque rating of 145Nm. The engine is very well refined and super smooth. The torque delivery is constant throughout the revs, and even when you’re in a tall gear at lower revs the torque is always available. Thanks to its great mid-range you won’t need to constantly play with the 6-speed transmission - but even if you do, changing gears is hassle-free. The throttle response is also very good and because the Street Bob is the lightest it also feels like it has the best acceleration out of all the models we got to ride.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Street Bob also gets ABS as standard. It also gets an improved electrical system charging, new instrumentation, keyless ignition, security system, and steering head mounted USB charge port.</p>

<p>Overall, the Street Bob is a huge improvement over the previous model. It’s very easy to handle and it looks very good as well. It’s also the most affordable model in the new lineup and this is certainly another positive step in the right direction for the legendary American bike maker.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
