The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is a litre-class adventure motorcycle, which is based on the naked Ninja 1000. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Versys shares its powertrain with the Ninja 1000. Talking about the design, the bike gets twin LED headlamps at the front, an adjustable vertical windscreen, chunky handguard protectors and a sporty silver exhaust at the back.
Exterior Details
The new Versys 1000 is a mature adventure motorcycle. Dimensionally, the Versys 1000 is 2,270mm in overall length, 895mm in overall width and 1,400mm in overall height. The bike sits 150mm above the ground and has a fuel tank capacity of 21 litres. The kerb weight, moreover, is a hefty 255kg.
Engine & Transmission
As per its specifications sheet, the Versys 100 feature a 1,043cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled, which produces 116.5 horsepower and 102Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. As per our tests, the Kawasaki Versys 1000 mileage is 14km/l.
Handling
The Versys 1000 is built around a twin-tube aluminium frame and the suspension duties are taken care by inverted telescopic forks with rebound damping at the front and horizontal back-link, gas-charged with rebound damping at the rear. The braking is handled by dual 310mm discs at the front and a single 250mm disc at the rear. The 17-inch wheels are shod with a 120/70 ZR17 M/C 58W tyre at the front and a wider 180/55 ZR17 M/C 73W tyre at the back.
Features
The Kawasaki Versys 1000 new model comes equipped with a part-digital instrument cluster, segregated into an analogue tachometer accompanied by a full digital LCD screen, which shows speed, fuel, modes and other useful information. The headlamp and taillamp both are powered with LEDs. In terms of features, the bike gets ABS, adjustable windscreen, cornering management function, traction control, riding modes and electronic cruise control as standard.
