Kawasaki W800 Highlights
The Kawasaki W800 is the company’s neo-retro bike that pays homage to the 1966 Kawasaki W1. Design-wise, the Kawasaki W800 looks more or less identical to the Kawasaki W1. If you’re someone that drools over retro styling, Kawasaki has you covered with a nice circular headlamp at the front, spoke wheels, circular rear-view mirrors, and chrome detailing in all the right places. The riding position – with regards to the bike’s touring capabilities – is nothing short of plush. Evidence to its neo-retro appeal, the Kawasaki boasts an elongated fuel tank, single-piece seat, and a round fork gaiter.
The Kawasaki W800 is a successor to the Kawasaki W1 that was sold in the 1960s. As far as dimensions are concerned, the bike is 2,136mm in length, 825mm in width, and 1,135mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 130mm, and it weighs 222kg. The Kawasaki W800 has a fuel tank capacity of 15-litres.
Engine & Transmission
Powering the Kawasaki W800 is a 773cc twin-cylinder mill that is capable of producing 47bhp and 63Nm of torque. The air-cooled engine is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The Kawasaki W800 mileage, on the other hand, is rated at 22.4km/l
The double-cradle high tensile steel chassis has been overhauled to improve the steering response of the W800. The braking duties of the neo-retro Kawasaki are handled by a single 320mm disc brake at the front and a single 270mm disc brake at the back. Kawasaki has equipped the W800 with telescopic forks up front and a twin shocks setup at the back. As for the rubber, the bike is equipped with a 100/90-18 M/C 56 size tyre at the front and a 130/80-18 M/C 66H size tyre at the rear.
As far as features are concerned, the bike gets dual-channel ABS as part of the safety net. It also sports a twin-pod instrument cluster segregated into a conventional speedometer and a tachometer. What’s more, a small LCD screen is present that displays the essential data. As for the electricals, LED lights are standard for the headlamps as well as the taillamp.
