The fresh&nbsp;Black Metallic 12 paint job for the 2024 R15 V4 appears to be inspired by the bigger R7 bike.&nbsp;The new blacked-out components work well with the available colour option.&nbsp;The retail cost of the new iteration of the R15 V4 in Japan stands at 550,000 Yen (about Rs&nbsp;3.07&nbsp;lakh),&nbsp;making it nearly twice as pricey as the comparable model in India. Furthermore, the soon-to-be-released versions come connected&nbsp;to&nbsp;a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.</p>

Yamaha Motor recently launched the 2024 R15 V4 in Japan, complementing the smaller R125, which is also available for purchase globally. The R15 V4 gets new colour options as part of the latest update. The mechanicals and components, however, remain the same.

<p>Yamaha has introduced a new Dark Knight paint scheme for the R15 V4 bike. As the name suggests, the updated motorcycle is now available with a matte black base colour along with some golden bits. Yamaha is charging a premium of only Rs 1,000 for this Dark Knight edition&nbsp;in comparison to the Metallic Red version. With this new colour option, the R15 V4 stands at Rs 1.82 lakh (Rs 1,81,900). The manufacturer continues to offer Racing Blue and Intensity White colour options, costing Rs 1.86 lakh (Rs 1,85,900) each. All prices are ex-showroom.&nbsp;The&nbsp;recently launched colour scheme is also offered with other Yamaha models as well -&nbsp;the R15 V3 and the FZ.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the Yamaha R15 V4 is unchanged in terms of its powertrain and mechanical specification. On the design front, it retains LED lighting on the headlamp &amp; the taillamp and features the same LED DRLs. In addition, the R15 V4 gets&nbsp;the same LCD instrument cluster&nbsp;with Track and Street display modes.&nbsp;Bluetooth connectivity is also a part of the package.</p>

<p>The Yamaha R15 V4 is suspended with the help of upside-down front forks with 37mm inner tubes, thereby providing stability and&nbsp;improved rigidity. For the first time in 2021 in the country, Yamaha offered the R15 V4 with inverted front forks. This feature was given a miss when the brand launched the R15 V3 model in India but was available abroad.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Yamaha R15 V4 Dark Knight Edition: Powertrain</h2>

<p>Mechanically, the Dark Knight Edition continued to be the same as before. A 155cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine powers the motorcycle, delivering&nbsp;18.4bhp of power at&nbsp;10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at&nbsp;7,500rpm. The gearbox here is a 6-speed unit. The updated model continues to have an assist and slipper clutch on offer. Other mechanical bits have been carried over as well, such as dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system), a quick-shifter, and a traction control system.</p>

<h2>Yamaha R15 V4 Dark Knight Edition: Price, Competition</h2>

<p>The new Dark Knight Edition is priced at Rs 1.82 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it more affordable than the Racing Blue and Intensity White versions of the R15 V4. In the Indian market, the Yamaha R15 V4 rivals the likes of the KTM RC 125, the KTM RC 200, the Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.</p>

<p>Yamaha India has silently hiked the prices of the Aerox 155, Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 – and R15 M – and the FZ-X. The maxi scooter is now priced at Rs 1.31 lakh (ex-showroom) which is Rs 2,000 more than the previous pricing. The Yamaha YZF-15 V4 now costs Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom) and the YZF-R15M is priced at Rs 1.83 lakh (ex-showroom). The cost of this 150cc supersport is gone up by Rs 2,000-2,800. The Yamaha FZ-X is pricier by Rs 2,000 as well which brings its current cost up to Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>

<p>In other news, online reports are suggesting that Yamaha is likely to launch the 2022 Ray ZR and Fascino scooter in the coming months. The Japanese brand is likely to update the MT-15 street naked motorcycle as well. Expect the MT-15 to feature an updated suspension system similar to the outgoing Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.</p>

<p>It has been a long time since Yamaha India has not introduced a product in the premium bike segment. There are a few Yamaha products which are on sale overseas but the brand isn’t showing any signs to launch them in India. The Yamaha YZF-R3 name tag is yet to make a comeback in India.</p>
