<p>Yamaha has unveiled its new V4-powered MotoGP prototype at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with its first on-track outing scheduled during the San Marino Grand Prix. This marks the end of Yamaha’s long reliance on the inline-four, which has underpinned its MotoGP effort since the sport adopted four-stroke engines in 2002. Test rider Augusto Fernandez will oversee the public shakedown, beginning a crucial phase of data collection for the team. The switch to a V4 comes after a lengthy spell without victories, with Yamaha’s last win dating back to 2022. Its inline-four has struggled against rival V4 machines, particularly for straight-line speed and drive out of corners.
