Ferrari 812 Highlights
Replacing the F12 in the carmaker’s product portfolio, the 812 is the flagship offering from the Italian automaker in the Indian market. Since it’s available in just a single configuration, it is also touted as the Ferrari 812 Superfast. The V12 engine under the hood of this Ferrari produces a mind-numbing 800 horsepower, hence the name 812. As for the Superfast insignia, well, that’s Ferrari’s way of saying this is a Superfast machine!
The 812 Superfast is based on the F12, and Ferrari officials also say that it is now the fastest and more powerful Ferrari to roll off the production line – other than the limited-run La Ferrari, that is. So, if you’re lucky enough to afford the Ferrari 812 price, here’s why you should.
In typical Ferrari fashion, the Ferrari 812 new model is a beautiful machine that just makes you lust for it. It’s sexy, addictive, and looks absolutely sensational in the ‘Rosso Corsa’ shade. The large and heavily sculpted bonnet is, perhaps, longer than a typical small hatchback. The massive air dam at the front houses the ‘Prancing Horse’ moniker. The sweptback headlamps feature three-slat LED DRLs on the top and a projector lens right below it.
In profile, the 812 has the appearance of a nice fastback. The shoulder lines and air vents suggest impeccable aerodynamic efficiency, while the massive 10-spoke alloy wheels nicely sit within the 2.7m wheelbase. The rear styling, too, is nothing sort of impressive. The main highlights here are the two sets of circular taillamps and the presence of quad exhausts along with a splitter, which looks as good as it sounds.
The Ferrari 812 variants are as follows: Superfast. As for the equipment, you can spec up the 812 with a truckload of equipment, just like you would on any other modern-day Ferrari. The customization options, however, will only make the Ferrari 812 on-road price go through the roof.
You do get some necessary equipment such as climate control, drive modes, multi-function steering wheel, sporty seats, et cetera as standard. The 812 is also the first Ferrari to feature rear-wheel steering and the latest version of Ferrari's patented Side Slip Control (SSC), which allows the driver to exploit the full performance of this machine.
First impressions from the interiors are quite satisfying. While the 812 does miss out on the 10.2-infotainment screen (present in the Portofino), the cabin layout is very minimalistic and driver-focussed. You sit on hard sporty seats, which gel well with the overall interior. The steering wheel is a flat-bottom unit, and it houses controls for virtually everything from turn indicators to drive modes. The instrument cluster is also a typical Ferrari affair, replete with an analogue rev counter flanked with two digital displays.
Engine Specifications & Performance
As we’ve already discussed above, the 812 Superfast is powered by a massive 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine, which is clearly a step up from the F12’s V12 engine. The engine sits inside the long bonnet and produces 789bhp (800hp) and 718Nm of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The 812 breaches the 0-100km/h mark in just under 3s (2.9s to be precise) and the 0-200km/h in an absolutely unbelievable 7.9s.
