Lexus LC 500h Overview
Lexus has been renowned for making some of the most outlandish looking cars on the planet, and their most recent entrant into the Indian market happens to be the sportiest expression of their 'no boring cars' motto. The LC 500h looks like a concept car with those dramatic lines, curves and swooping panels - making it the most desirable of the entire Lexus range. It competes with sportscars and grand tourers like the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin DB11. Apart from having one of the coolest cockpits ever, it also oozes quality and comes with great levels of comfort. The V6 engine, along with the two motor generator hybrid system, allows for strong acceleration and performance. It may weigh a bit much for a GT, but it also has a certain solidity to it that buyers will love. Its segment-first hybrid powertrain also comes mated with a super-slick and complex 10-speed automatic gearbox. 'LC' stands for Luxury Coupe and going by the looks alone, we're sure it's bound to make its owners feel special the moment they're seen stepping out of one! Also, the Lexus LC 500h price is not exactly affordable at ₹ 1.96 crore, putting it in the Porsche 911's territory.
Exterior
There are lots of details to take in while simply gazing at the Lexus LC 500h new model. It starts with that low-set spindle-grille, those sharp design LED headlamps that feature a matte-grey element dripping from beneath the lights to the lower portion of the bumper. The front bumper is beautifully crafted and the bonnet gets flowing creases all over it. Viewed from the side, you'll notice the gorgeous 20-inch wheels, the floating roof and the upswept window line. At the rear, it boasts of tri-arrow like tail lights and there are carved impressions that give it a distinctive appeal. It also gets a deployable rear spoiler.
Variants
The 2020 Lexus LC 500h variants are as follows: Coupe. Features include 20-inch forged alloy wheels, 10.3-inch LCD multimedia display, Alcantara upholstery, driver and co-driver seat air conditioner and seat heater, multifunction steering wheel with integrated audio controls, glass roof with sunshade, LED headlamps and tail lamps, Lexus climate concierge and Lexus premium analogue clock and 8-way power-adjustable seats. On the safety front, it is equipped with a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, hill-start assist control, vehicle stability control, traction control, vehicle dynamics integrated management, 8 airbags, anti-theft system with siren, tyre pressure warning system and power door lock with speed lock function.
Interior
The cockpit of the LC 500h is just as beautiful as the exterior. The flowing lines of the door panels look great, and the centre console is neatly intact and gets an array of buttons. You can also see the Remote Touch control for the infotainment system. The seats are very comfortable and the materials, quality and fit and finish are all top-notch. The rear seats don't have much legroom and are best for kids. The Mark Levinson sound system sounds great. The steering is a work of art and feels great to hold. In Sport mode, the roof changes from glass to carbon fibre.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The Lexus LC 500h is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 that works in sync with a Two Motor Generator hybrid system and produces a combined output of 354bhp and 347Nm of torque. Paired to the engine is a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Press the engine start button, and the electric motor comes to life. You also get an EV mode button, if you want to use electric power alone. Push down on the throttle, and that's when the V6 kicks in. In terms of refinement, the LC 500h absolutely nails it. The gearbox is super quick in terms of responses. The engine, on the other hand, loves to be revved and is very responsive in nature. Also, the car feels pretty agile, which is a good thing. Be it any mode, the ride tends to feel a bit firm because of the additional weight of the hybrid system. There's lots of grip on offer and the steering feels quite well-weighted. The Lexus LC 500h on-road price will easily cross the two-crore rupee mark.
Mileage
The Lexus LC 500h's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is rated at 11.05kpl for the hybrid model.
