The updated variant has arrived in our market with several new features, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and more. <h2>New Renault&nbsp;Kiger: Prices, Safety Features &amp; Competitors&nbsp;</h2>

In February 2023, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/renault/">Renault</a> revised the list of safety features for all of its vehicles, including the Kiger. The electronic stability programme (ESP), traction control, hill-start assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are now included with the SUV as standard equipment. There are also up to four airbags and a reversing camera on board as additional safety features. Price-wise, the SUV costs between Rs&nbsp;6.50 lakh and Rs&nbsp;11.23 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Further, the Kiger competes with the Citroen C3, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, as well as sub-4m SUVs like the Tata Nexon, the Nissan Magnite, and more in the Indian market.

Renault India has launched an updated RXT (O) MT Variant of the Kiger in India at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has also announced a range of offers on the RXZ version of the SUV.

Renault is offering these Limited Edition variants at the exact cost as the variant they are based on!

Renault India has just launched Limited Edition variants for all its models, which include the Kwid, Triber and Kiger. For the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/renault/kwid/">Kwid</a>, the Limited Edition variant is based on the Climber variant, whereas for the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/renault/triber/">Triber</a> and <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/renault/kiger/">Kiger</a>, it is based on the RXZ variant. The Limited Edition variant will be available at the same price as the variant it is based on.

The Limited Edition variant, brought in light of the upcoming festive season, is only available in one Dual Tone shade – White with a mystery black roof. Other highlights include red accents on the front grille, DRLs/headlamps, and side door decals. These are the&nbsp;bits common&nbsp;on all three cars.

Furthermore, the Kwid gets red accents on the front and rear skid plates, roof rails, and the Climber decal in red on the C-pillar. The Triber also gets individual bits in the form of piano black wheels covers and door handles. Lastly, the Kiger gets red brake callipers to set it apart.

Bookings for these models started on 2nd September&nbsp;2022. <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/renault/" target="_blank">Renault</a> hasn’t given out any information on the number of units they will be making for each model, or till when they will be on sale, which could indicate that these Limited Edition variants will be around for some time.

Renault Kwid, Triber and Kiger get Limited Edition variants

French carmaker Renault has introduced Limited Edition variants for all its models – the Kwid, Triber and Kiger. These Limited Edition variants will be available at no extra cost and feature cosmetic updates to make the vehicles stand out.

Until now, Renault has cumulatively sold 8 lakh cars in India and just recently, the French carmaker’s exports crossed the 1 lakh unit mark.

The &nbsp;Renault Duster was a runaway success when the compact SUV made a debut in India. The Duster laid the foundation for the French carmaker almost a decade ago and now Renault India has reported a cumulative sales of 8 lakh units. Currently, the demand for the Duster has phased off, however, Kiger, which is a relatively smaller sub-four-metre crossover SUV, has gained popularity. The Kwid which has was positioned in the frugal affordable hatchback segment recently crossed the 4 lakh sales mark. Renault further adds that the Triber is continuing to garner a positive response.

Sometime last month, Renault also announced that the firm has crossed the 1 lakh exports mark. Renault exports the Kiger, Triber and Kwid to 14 countries across SAARC, Asia Pacific, Indian Oceanic Region, South Africa and East Africa. The exports are produced at Renault's facility in Oragadam which was set up in 2012. The Duster was the first SUV which exported from the plant.

After teasing it for months, the all-new Renault Kiger has been finally launched in India. Priced between Rs 5.45 lakh and Rs 9.55 lakh (both ex-showroom), the Kiger is the French carmaker’s first offering in the sub-4m compact SUV space.

While the pricing is impressive, there’s more to the Kiger than a tempting price-tag. Here’s everything you need to know about this new compact-SUV.

Design &amp; dimensions

The Kiger is underpinned by the same CMFA+ platform of the Kwid, Triber, and the Nissan Magnite. Aesthetically, the Kiger has a striking design and resembles that of the Kwid. The front-end is highlighted by split-headlamp design, with all-LED headlights and a large front grille with honeycomb effect. Around the side, the Kiger has flared wheel arches and a sloping roofline – the top-end variant also gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the back, the Kiger features C-shaped LED tail-lights along with a faux aluminium skid plate. Overall, the Kiger looks quite butch.

In terms of dimensions, the Kiger is 3,991mm long, 1,750mm wide, and 1,600mm tall. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,500mm and has a ground clearance of 205mm.

Interior, features &amp; equipment

The Kiger’s interior looks upmarket and comes with an all-black theme, featuring gloss black and chrome highlights on the centre console and steering wheel. The dashboard is highlighted by an 8.0-inch touchscreen. The cabin has a similar layout as that of the Kwid and Magnite. For instance, the rotary selector for climate controls is identical to that of the Kwid and Magnite, and so are the switches and stalks. The steering wheel is different from the Triber, and it comes with steering mounted controls.

In terms of features, the top-end variants pack wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play,&nbsp;Arkamys audio system, a digital instrument cluster, push-start button, automatic climate control, rear-view camera, parking sensors, etc. ABS and dual airbags are standard, while the top-end variants get four airbags in total. Wireless phone charger, air purifier, front parking sensors, and more are optional among other&nbsp;add-ons/packs.

Engine &amp; gearbox

The Kiger is offered with the same set of 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines as the Magnite. This includes a naturally-aspirated (NA) and a turbocharged unit. The former is rated at 71bhp and develops 96Nm of torque, while the latter produces 99bhp and 160Nm. The NA unit is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual or AMT. The turbo version is available with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic (the CVT version develops slightly lower torque at 152Nm).

Two months after showcasing the concept, Renault has taken the wraps off the production-spec Kiger. The new product will mark Renault’s entry into competitive compact SUV space, and promises to be a game-changer for the brand.

As promised, the Kiger draws a lot of its inspiration from the concept. The tall flat bonnet, wide grille with the oversized insignia, the large bumper as well as the horizontally stacked LED headlights, all look somewhat identical to the concept. From the side, the Kiger looks like a larger sibling of the Kwid – which it actually is. The C-shaped LED taillamps are somewhat reminiscent of the 2020 Captur – not as sharp though. As far as dimensions go, the Kiger is 3,991mm long, 1,750mm wide and 1,600mm tall. At 2,500mm the wheelbase of the Kiger is identical to the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet, but marginally smaller than the Honda WR-V. In terms of practicality, the Kiger is likely to score well thanks to its massive 405-litre boot space.

Speaking about the design, Laurens van den Acker, EVP, Head of Design, Groupe Renault, said, “True to the promise of the show-car, Renault Kiger is a robust, dynamic and generous SUV. Armed for travel in the urban jungle, we also designed it for the outdoors and to easily navigate any type of road conditions. Kiger has a distinctive SUV look and its long wheelbase enables great space and volume on board. Its ‘smart cabin’ has been specially designed to encourage sharing and convenience.”

On the inside, the dash has been washed in grey with black highlights all around in the cabin. Taking centre stage is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, as well as voice command. This infotainment system can be paired with up to 5 devices via Bluetooth. Higher variants of the compact SUV will come with a 4 speaker and 4 tweeters, and speed-sensitive volume control. The Kiger also comes fitted with a fully-digital instrument cluster. Key features include button start, keyless entry, climate control, ambient lighting and more.

The Kiger will be powered by the same engine options as its cousin, the Nissan Magnite. Lower-spec models will get the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated motor that develops peak power of 71bhp and 96Nm. This engine either comes paired with a 5-speed manual or Renault’s Easy-R AMT. For those looking for better performance, the French carmaker will also have the 1.0-litre turbo petrol on offer in the 99bhp and 160Nm state of tune. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT option. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Expected to be launched around March 2021, the Renault Kiger is likely to be priced starting Rs 5.5 lakh. The Kiger will compete against its cousin, the Nissan Magnite, along with other products in this class like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V.

28th January will also mark the Renault Kiger's global debut. It will be the third global car from Groupe Renault to be launched in India first, followed by other markets.

In November last year, Renault had showcased the much-anticipated but slightly delayed <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/renault-kiger-concept-showcased-108690/">Kiger compact SUV in its concept form</a>. And today, Renault has confirmed that the production-spec Kiger will make its global debut in India on 28th January.

Built on the same CMFA+ platform as the Triber, the sub-4m Kiger will be Renault's counterpart to the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/nissan-magnite-launched-at-rs-499-lakh-108738/">recently-launched Nissan Magnite</a>. More importantly, Renault has confidently stated that the production-spec Kiger&nbsp;will be approximately 80% similar to the concept car seen here. So, expect the Kiger to bear a bold design for a compact SUV.

In terms of powertrain choices, the Kiger is expected to be launched with the same options as the Triber and the Nissan Magnite. Thus, expect the Kiger to get a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol motor (the same as the Magnite) in both naturally-aspirated (NA) and turbocharged versions. While the NA variants are likely to get the choice of either a five-speed manual or an&nbsp;AMT gearbox, the turbocharged variants will get the option of a CVT automatic gearbox instead of the AMT, much like the Magnite. The power and torque figures are also expected to be close to those of the Magnite.

Renault Kiger India reveal on 28th January

In November last year, Renault had showcased the much-anticipated but slightly delayed Kiger compact SUV in its concept form. Renault has now confirmed that the production-spec Kiger will make its global debut in India on 28th January.

Speaking about the Kiger Concept, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO &amp; Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, 'Renault Kiger is our all-new B-SUV, which will stand out as an attractive, smart, and exciting offering from Groupe Renault. We are delighted to announce that the global launch of Renault Kiger will be in India, after which it will be launched in other markets across the world. It will be launched in the B-segment, which accounts for more than 50% of the total industry sales, thereby enabling us to grow our presence across the country.'

The Kiger has been jointly developed by the design teams in France and India. Sporting a two-level LED headlight setup and the signature chrome grille with the large Renault insignia, the Kiger gets bold styling elements at the front. The side profile is dominated by large 19-inch wheels, flared wheel arches and a unique roof rack. Around the back, the Kiger gets C-shaped taillights, a central exhaust system and a roof-mounted spoiler. This concept flaunts a ground clearance of 210mm. The concept also features a unique paint scheme that changes hue from blue to purple, depending on the angle. The company claims that the production version will be nearly 80% similar to this concept. It will be interesting to see how many of these funky design elements make it to the production-spec model.

The Kiger&nbsp;will be based on Renault’s CMFA+ platform, which is also the base for the Triber. As far as engine options go, the Kiger will get the same engine and transmission options as the Nissan Magnite&nbsp;– a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol&nbsp;mill, which&nbsp;will come paired with a manual transmission and&nbsp;an AMT option (same as the Triber), and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, which will come paired with a manual and a CVT.

Although pictures and details of the interior haven’t been revealed yet, it's safe to assume that it will get all the features that are the norm in the segment and then some. Expect the Kiger to be priced in the Rs 5.5&nbsp;– 10 lakh range when it gets launched in Q1 2021. It will compete against the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, and the Mahindra XUV300.

Renault's sub-4m compact SUV, likely to be called the Kiger, is nearing its launch this&nbsp;festive season. It's based on the same platform as the Triber. Here's what we know about it so far.&nbsp;

The Renault Triber, ever since its launch&nbsp;last year, has been a successful model for Renault in India. A surprisingly spacious cabin, with seating for seven, despite its sub-4m length, has really helped the Triber become a success. So, to replicate the Triber's success, Renault is now planning to launch a sub-4m compact SUV in India based on the Triber's underpinnings. Likely to be called the Kiger (codenamed HBC), it is expected to arrive sometime during the festive season this year. Although Nissan's new compact SUV, the Magnite, was due to arrive first, a recently-announced delay in its launch has paved the way for Kiger's early&nbsp;launch.

As mentioned above, expect the Triber &amp; Kiger to share a lot of their components, since they're also based on the same CMF-A platform. In fact, reports suggest that the Kiger will get the exact same engine and transmission options as the Triber. That means the Kiger could be powered by the same 71bhp / 96Nm 1.0-litre 3-cylinder motor mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an EASY-R AMT unit.

However, the Kiger is likely to go on sale as a slightly more premium offering than the Triber. Therefore, expect more standard equipment on the Kiger, as well as&nbsp;the potential arrival of a new 99bhp 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit that could be offered with a CVT automatic gearbox. If this new engine arrives with the Kiger, Renault is most likely to introduce it on the Triber as well.

In terms of competition, the Renault Kiger will enter a highly-competitive space to take on the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon. Soon, the Kia Sonet and, next year, the Nissan Magnite will also enter the same league.
