The refreshed model showcases modernised technology and an upgraded powertrain, ensuring a balance of performance and efficiency. With these enhancements, the Czech auto manufacturer aims to strengthen Octavia’s position in the global market, catering to drivers seeking a refined yet sporty driving experience. The model is now open for bookings, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the coming weeks.</p><h2>New Skoda Octavia: Updated Powertrain</h2><p>The latest 2.0-litre TSI engine produces 201bhp, marking a 13bhp increase compared to its predecessor. It comes standard with an all-wheel-drive system and is exclusively mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, delivering a peak torque of 320Nm. The engine benefits from high-pressure fuel injection at 350 bar and a variable valve lift system, enhancing efficiency and performance. Both models boast a top speed of 228km/h.</p><h2>New Skoda Octavia: New AWD Setup</h2><p>Equipped with an advanced all-wheel-drive system, the Octavia features an electrohydraulically controlled inter-axle multi-plate clutch that dynamically adjusts torque distribution based on real-time road conditions. This system can send up to 100% of the available torque to the rear axle when needed, while under normal conditions, it maintains a balanced 50:50 power split between the front and rear wheels.</p><p> Additional electronic aids, such as EDS and XDS, help refine power delivery for better grip and stability. The vehicle also boasts a multi-link rear suspension, improving ride quality, handling precision, and overall driving dynamics. Additionally, the AWD system enhances towing capacity, allowing the Octavia to tow up to 1,900 kg with a braked trailer.<br></p><h2>New Skoda Kodiaq India Launch Soon</h2><p>The Skoda Kodiaq is set to receive a comprehensive generational upgrade. Ahead of this anticipated launch in April, the brand has officially removed the outgoing model from its Indian website. After the launch of the upcoming facelift model, Skoda’s India lineup will consist of four models: the Kylaq, Kodiaq, Kushaq, and the Slavia.</p>

<p><em><strong>Score-wise, the Octavia achieved 86% for adult occupant protection, 84% for child occupant protection, 81% for safety assists, and 68% for vulnerable road users (VRU).</strong></em></p>

<p>The Skoda&nbsp;Octavia has recently aced the Euro NCAP crash tests with a five-star rating. Although the evaluation body tested the Octavia Combi (estate variant), the same results are also applicable to the <a href="https://www.autox.com/sedan-cars-in-india/">sedan</a>&nbsp;model, which is sold in the Indian market.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Octavia variant that was used in the test included eight airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Notably, these safety equipment are also found in the India-spec model.&nbsp;Additionally, because it was an international model, it also had all ADAS features, which are not offered with the Indian variant.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Child Occupant Protection</strong></p>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/skoda/octavia/">Skoda Octavia</a> estate got 84%&nbsp;(41.2 points) in child occupant protection, according to Euro NCAP. The Skoda Octavia allows the owner to disable the front-passenger airbag in order to use a rearward-facing child restraint in that seating position. The protection for the 10-year-old dummy's neck was rated as 'marginal'&nbsp;in the frontal offset test, while protection for the chest was rated as 'poor'&nbsp;in the side barrier test.</p>

<p><strong>Adult Occupant Protection</strong></p>

<p>In terms of adult occupant&nbsp;protection, the Octavia received a score of 86% (32.8 points). The combined results of the frontal and side-impact crash tests are included here. In this test, the Skoda Octavia’s passenger compartment was graded as ‘stable.’ Both the driver and passenger’s knees and femurs got a ‘good’ protection rating. In the full-width rigid barrier test, the driver and rear passenger both received 'good'&nbsp;or 'adequate'&nbsp;ratings for the protection of all&nbsp;the vital body areas. The care received a 'marginal'&nbsp;rating for the protection of the driver's chest. Moreover, it received a 'good'&nbsp;protection rating for all critical body areas during the side barrier test.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Vulnerable Road Users (VRU)</strong></p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/skoda/">Skoda</a> Octavia received a score of 37.1, earning it a 68% protection rating for vulnerable road users like pedestrians.&nbsp;It provided 'good' to 'adequate' head and leg protection but 'mixed' pelvic protection for road users.&nbsp;The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology of the car was prepared to respond to both other vehicles and vulnerable road users. In the test to see how it would react to pedestrians and bikes, it did 'adequately,' avoiding crashes in many instances.</p>

<p><strong>Safety Assist</strong></p>

<p>The Skoda estate scored 81%&nbsp;(13.1 points) in the safety assist tests. According to Euro NCAP, tests of the Skoda Octavia's automated emergency braking (AEB) system showed that it responded well to other vehicles. Both the front and back seats come with a seatbelt reminder system as standard. The European model also gets a driver fatigue detection system, lane assistance features, and a driver-set speed restriction.</p>

<p>The Skoda Octavia is available in India as a <a href="https://www.autox.com/petrol-cars-in-india/">petrol</a>-only variant and is priced between ₹27.35 lakh and ₹30.45 lakh (ex-showroom).</p>
