Tata Harrier Preview
After being in the rumour mill for a while, Tata Motors finally revealed the H5X Concept at the Auto Expo 2018. This is the same concept that has been developed on Land Rover’s L550 platform. Just like the 45X, this one too is based on Tata Motors’ Impact 2.0 design philosophy. And we must say that it is quite a looker. The H5X is a long car but has a stubby stance. Tata has managed to get the proportions of this car just right. The tall bonnet, massive wheel arches and the sloping roofline give the H5X a contemporary look. In combination with the large 22-inch wheels that the display car came fitted with and a high ground clearance, the H5X seems to be built to take on all types of terrains. Of course, there is also the Land Rover DNA at play here.
Those who prefer a minimalist approach will not be disappointed with the interior of the H5X. Taking the centre stage on the dash is a large touchscreen infotainment system that continues along the dash as an instrument cluster too. Just like we have seen with the current crop of Tata offerings, expect the H5X to have various connectivity options. Although the concept had two individual seats at the back, the production-version is likely to have a standard bench. The SUV is expected to go on sale in 5-seat and 7-seat options.
When the H5X goes on sale, it is likely to be fitted with a Fiat-sourced MultiJet II diesel motor that also powers the Jeep Compass. In the H5X, however, it may be marginally detuned. When launched, the Tata H5X is slated to take on other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Renault Capture and Mahindra XUV5OO.
