<p><strong>Just when Tata Motors commenced the bookings of the CNG models of Tigor and Tiago, a test mule of the 2022 Tata Tigor has been spotted doing rounds of Pune City.</strong></p>

<p>A test mule of the updated Tata Tigor has been spotted in Pune, India. The outgoing BS6 Tigor was launched in the early months of 2020 and now two years down the line, it is about time Tata Motors updates its sub-compact-sedan to keep it at par with the competition.</p>

<p>The test mule which was spotted was covered in a camouflage wrap hiding the new fascia and rear-end design. As a part of the update, the 2022 Tigor is expected with a newly designed headlamp assembly and grille. The bumpers on either end are likely to be reprofiled as well. While the test mule was equipped with steel rims, the updated model is likely to break cover with newly designed alloy wheels.</p>

<p>The insides are likely to see some retouches. The dashboard inserts and door cards will most probably feature new touch materials.</p>

<p>The engine will be the same 1.2-litre petrol motor (only) which is offered in the outgoing model, but this time, we’re expecting some tweaks which may result in increased power output. The gearbox on offer will be a five-speed manual and an AMT.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tata Motors has recently started accepting bookings for the CNG variants of Tigor and Tiago. It is possible that the outgoing model of the Tata Tigor will be sold with CNG, and the new facelifted Tigor will be offered exclusively with a petrol drivetrain.</p>

<p>Currently, Tata Tigor is priced between Rs. 5.68 lakh and Rs. 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2022 Tigor is likely to hike the prices by Rs. 15,000-20,000 across variants.</p>

<p>Tata Motors’ upcoming compact-sedan has finally been given a name - it’ll be called Tigor, confirmed the firm. First showcased at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo as Kite 5 concept, the new compact-sedan is all set to go on sale around March 2017 in the country.</p>

<p>As per the company, the Tata Tigor follows the carmaker’s new IMPACT design language, and it’s based on the same platform as the Tiago hatchback. However, instead of calling it a sedan, Tata Motors is billing the new car as “India’s 1<sup>st</sup> Styleback”. The company even goes as far as claiming that the compact-sedan segment is currently dominated by “boxy cars” and the&nbsp;Tigor will change that.</p>

<p>The Tigor will have the same engine options as its hatchback sibling. This means it will get a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine developing 83bhp of max power @ 6,000 rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm. The diesel version will get a 1.05-litre three-cylinder unit that produces 69bhp @ 4,000 rpm and 140Nm between 1,800 rpm and 3,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard while AMT (automated manual transmission) is likely to be offered in the sedan as well.</p>

<p>The Tata Tigor will be competing with the likes of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/dzire/">Maruti Suzuki Dzire</a>, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/honda/amaze/">Honda Amaze</a>, Hyundai Xcent, etc. Expect it to be priced competitively with the base model prices starting at around Rs 4 - 4.5 lakh.</p>
