2019 Aprilia Tuono V4

Updated version promises improved handling thanks to semi-active electronic suspension from Ohlins

Aprilia knows how to make motorcycle fast and fun. The Tuono V4 is easily among the best super-naked out there today, and now, Aprilia has given it an update for 2019. The biggest update in the 2019 Tuono V4 is a pair of Ohlins semi-active dampers. Up front, it has a SmartEC 2.0 Nix forks and at the back, it has been fitted with a SmartEC 2.0 monoshock. The motorcycle also comes with an electronic steering damper which too has been sourced from Ohlins. Riders can switch the semi-active automatic setting between three modes – Track, Sport and Road. There is also a manual setting option. The suspension mapping can further be adjusted with the help of the Aprilia OBTi (Object Based Tuning Interface) on the 4.3-inch TFT screen of the instrument cluster.

Aside from the suspension upgrade, the remainder of the motorcycle remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 1,077cc V4 motor that develops 175bhp and 121Nm. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. It makes insane power for a motorcycle that just weighs 184kg. It is no wonder, then, that it comes with a long list of rider aids including a quickshifter, wheelie control, launch control, traction control, cornering ABS and more.

Aprilia has also brought along two new colours to the updated Tuono V4 Factory, but the difference from the older one won’t be easily noticeable unless you have both the bikes in front of you. The Tuono V4 is likely to make it to Indian shores, but only after its European launch next year.
