2022 Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono V4 Ultra Dark break cover

The Aprilia RSV4 and the Tuono V4 now feature a special colour scheme, which will remind you of the RSV4 1000R Factory from 2006.

We’re seeing some of the popular cars and SUVs in India getting the Dark treatment, such as the Safari, Seltos, Polo, and Rapid. Aprilia seems to have taken a similar approach, as the Italian two-wheeler maker has unveiled the ‘Ultra Dark’ editions of the 2022 RSV4 and Tuono V4 Well, the two Italian superbikes don't just get an all-black colour scheme but a combination of black and gold.

The overall colour of the 2022 RSV4 is gloss-black; however, the wheels, suspension components, and the rear cowl get golden highlights. The ‘Aprilia’ badge, above the headlamp and on the fuel tank, is finished in gold too. This livery has been inspired by the 2006 Aprilia RSV4 1000R Factory, which sported a similar colour scheme.

The 2022 Tuono V4, on the other hand, gets a similar treatment, but with a few tweaks. While the overall colour stays black, the motorcycle misses out on gold-coloured alloy wheels. Other suspension components, gold finish badges and gold highlighted tail section, stay the same.

Mechanically, both the motorcycles continue to be the same. The 2022 Aprilia RSV4 gets the 1,099cc V4 engine, which puts out 217bhp at 13,200rpm.

Other features such as bi-plane winglets integrated into double-wall fairing have been carried over. The mechanicals and the electronics are the same as the standard motorcycle.

The Tuono V4 Ultra Dark gets the same 1,077cc V4 heart, which pumps 172bhp at 11,350rpm and 122Nm at 11,000rpm. The cycle parts are identical to that of the standard 2022 Aprilia Tuono V4.

The Aprilia RSV4 and the Tuono V4 on sale in India are yet to be updated, with new colour schemes, to the 2022 iteration, which is on sale overseas. That said, Aprilia India is likely to launch the new Ultra Dark Edition of the two superbikes when it will bring in the updated 2022 RSV4 and Tuono V4. Aprilia has not yet announced the prices of the Ultra Dark editions, but it goes without saying that this new edition will demand a premium over the sticker price of the standard motorcycle.
