2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR Unveiled Globally; Check What's New

With its recent unveiling, the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR marks a comeback for 2023. The latest offering receives a few styling tweaks and comes packed with equipment that helps reduce the mass. For those unaware, the 1290 Super Duke is the first KTM to carry an 'RR' badge ever. Like last time in 2021, the 2023 Super Duke RR is limited to 500 units and is available only in the international markets through a select few KTM dealers. In other news, the Austrian motorcycle makers are also preparing to reveal the new SMT or Super Moto Touring model soon. Based on the ADV bike, the new SMT will reportedly be the first KTM model to get the upcoming 990cc parallel-twin engine.

2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR: What's new on offer?

In terms of styling, the 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR sports a gloss black and matte carbon base, with contrasting white and orange highlights.

According to some reports, the updated KTM 1290 Super Duke RR is 11 kilogram lighter than the standard Super Duke R Evo model - thanks to a carbon-fibre subframe, bespoke fully adjustable WP suspension components, and other CNG machine components. It now tips the scale at just 180 kilogram.

Moreover, the 2023 bike also comes with a lightweight AKRAPOVIC slip-on exhaust system as standard along with an optional titanium full-system exhaust. To extract maximum performance with ease, the bike has a comprehensive suite of rider aids with a Track pack as standard. The company also offers a bespoke carbon fibre box for the keys. 

2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR: Same Design & Suspension

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR appears to share the same design with the standard model. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, it continues to have a split-style headlight with LED DRLs (daytime running lights), a rider-only seat, a rear cowl, a muscular fuel tank, an exposed frame and sub-frame, a single-sided swingarm.  

The suspension setup comprises the fully adjustable WP APEX PRO 7548 Close Cartridge forks in the front and an APEX PRO 7746 mono-shock at the rear. The steering damper is an adjustable APEX PRO 7117, which is sourced from WP as well.

2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR: Same Powertrain

The 2023 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR gets the same 1,301cc V-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 177.5bhp of maximum power and 140Nm of peak torque. With such power and torque figures, the motorcycle has a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.

The latest RR variant features LED tail lights with LED signals at the rear, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, lightweight forged wheels, and KTM's adaptive brake light as standard. It also comes with a host of KTM PowerParts accessories.
